Try new batteries; a different kind or even a different one from the same package.

AFTER CHANGING THE BATTERY I TURN IT ON AND IT SAYS FILE SYSTEM ERROR AND THEN I LEAVE IT SITING AROUND FOR LIKE A MONTH AND THEN IT WORKS

Hi,
Possible there is something wrong with the file system of your MP3 player.
Try updating the firmware of it or possibly reformatting it like back to it's Defaults settings and try to see if the issue will be different.
seems that the File system may have gotten corrupted somehow when the old batteries were replaced.
Also try removing the batteries then press and hold down the power button maybe for 5-10 second to do a power drain on the unit then put the batteries back in and turn it ON again to see.

Only plays music when i use a low battery

use the setup driver disc, then search through it for a program with a rocket ship icon. open it, and select firmware upgrade.
plug your mp3 player in.
select the newest firmware upgrade.
open it
select upgrade and your firmware will be upgraded
it should be fixed now
