Question about HP OmniBook XE3 Notebook

HP Omnibook EX3 no Ethernet or wireless adapter drivers

I have an HP Omnibook EX3 laptop that I recently installed window 2000. I can't find many of the drivers so I figured I would try to connect to the internet. However, it doesn't have an Ethernet controller or a driver for my Microsoft Broadband Networking Wireless Notebook Adapter MN-720. Is there anywhere I can find these drivers?

Look if you  go this route it will just be headache after headache... Get a copy of XP SP2 and install that... then you will have all the drivers and such. Win 2000 is not supported anymore at all,  subsequently any drivers are hard to find, and seldom work with modern stuff anyway .. well pre 2000 is fine..

However if you must then the only way is to use someone else's PC, find the files you need, and download them,  and then copy files to a  memory stick, or perhaps CD/DVD

Hi,

You cannot install this adapter in a Win 7 computer because the drivers are not compatible with Win 7.
So far Belkin haven't updated the drivers for win 7 OS. The latest drivers for this adapter is compatible only with

" Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP 32-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit "

Click here to see the belkin compatible drivers in the website.

Prema.

Wont hook to the enternet

The Ethernet adapter may be conflicting or competing with the wireless adapter for the Internet connection. Try turning off the wireless adapter. You can either disable it in device manager, or some HP laptops have a button next to the screen that will turn it off. If you don't get an Internet connection, restart the laptop and try again.

If that doesn't help, I would suspect the Ethernet adapter driver is faulty. Check it under device manager. If it has a yellow exclamation point, question mark, or is not listed, the driver needs to be installed or reinstalled. If it simply has a red X on it, enable the adapter.

If the Ethernet adapter is fine, try a different Ethernet cable. If THAT doesn't help, it's probably software related.

A firewall may be keeping you from browsing. Some firewalls may see the Ethernet connection as an entirely different connection than the wireless one. Try disabling all firewalls.

Thanks

This one?

You will have to use the Dlink software if this is going to work at all. I'm not at all certain this model is compatible with Windows 2000 as the documentation only refers to Windows XP because it requires the Wireless Zero Configuration service which was not included in Windows 2000.

I had the same problem with my HP when l put vista on it and overcame that problem with using my XP driver. It worked for me no harm in trying your XP driver.

I recently had my hp pavillion dv 2000 with windows 2000 crash and it has been repaired but I am unable to connect to the internet. Turns out after a check I am missing my Ethernet card what can i do...

I the Ethernet card removed complete from your system or you mean to say your system do not detect your Ethernet card.

If the system do not detect your Ethernet card, then it is more of drivers related issues.

Re-install the drivers of your Ethernet card and try to connect.
This should solve your issue.

If there is no Ethernet card in laptop. Then, get one, install drivers for the same.. and try to connect. It will work.

Wireless set up with Omnibook XE2-DB Windows 98

there is no support for PC that old at all. and for sure windows 98
heck goodWill stores , throws those in the trash help,
they are no longer viable. period
same store sells $10 laptops that are 10 years old with Windows 7
and 100000 better than that old hunk of junk,
sorry but that is a fact.

RadioLan 140 PCMCIA (now called PC-card, i like the old name too)
what make you think they still in business or even sell driver for it.
company from 1999 , the book on it says
that card came with a Disk to install the driver, lost that.
good luck finding THAT. (omg, so rare... )

http://manualzz.com/doc/769802/radiolan-140-mobilink-user-guide

this old note book , no longer supported by HP or MS
has 1 USB port , no wifi, no ethernet, yes, dial up modem.
if USB works (test it , i bet it dont")

they try to buy a USB,wifi dongle that has windows 98
drivers with it. Be hard to do and the software if downloaded
will be rife with viruses...

The choices are , again.
1: that dial up port, there called the modem jack.
2: PCARD that has drivers for wifi, seems your are (rare to none)
3: USB wifi with win98 drivers.
4: USB with ethernet port, and win98 driver (most dont)

or get a real PC> from Goodwill for like $10 ,
or 2010 and newer PC of any kind from anyplace.
get one with W7 and newer OS for full support.
this thing you have is like finding parts for a Dueseberg car.

these old laptops are seen in garage sales for $1
due to the lack of support. and the fact that putting say
a new HDD is 100x more.
