I researched this problem (remote won't code to operate optek 20" lcd tv.No remote created will work with this tv x-cept the original because it works on a totally different wavelength for the i.r. led that transmits the code.I firget where i saw it posted but there was a modification to change either the led or something in the circuit to allow a ordinary remote to work. As soon as i can relocate it I will pass it on to you.
Below is how you can solve this problem. I really works!!!
Searching for a codeIf your home entertainment device does not respond to the remote control after trying all of the codes listed for your brand, or if your brand is not listed at all, try searching for your code. Example: You've tried all the codes for your TV, but you still cannot get the remote control to operate your TV.
Turn on your TV.
On the remote control, press TV once.
Then press and hold SETUP until the TV key blinks twice, then release the SETUP key.
Using the number pad, enter 9-9-1. The TV key will blink twice.
Aim the remote control at the TV and slowly alternate between pressing Power and TV. Stop when the TV turns off after pressing the POWER key. This means that a working code has been found.
Press the SETUP key once to lock in the code. The TV key will blink twice.
Note: Use the AUX key to program the remote for an audio receiver or DVD player.

"Cable and Satellite content providers control the remote codes, and we apologize for any confusion during the remote programming. Please try the following codes 10019, 0178, 10178, 0030, 10030, 0835, 10835, or for Dish Network try 627, 659 or 505. For Fios TV (Verizon), try the code 3264. These codes may not work on some universal remotes. If there is another code listed for ARIO in your universal remote control guide, please try that code. Refer to the Remote Control Guide under your TV's model number for more information".
If you have a learning universal remote, such as the MX-500, just put the remote in learning mode, press the button on the universal remote you want to program then press the appropriate button on the other remote. Otherwise, we'll need to know also what remote control you have. They are not all alike.
I had the same problem with my remote. I would enter the code and there would be no response from the remote. I looked up the manual for the other comcast remote and the codes are 5 digits instead of 4. Try codes 10093 or 11602. The reason why there is no response from your remote is because it is waiting for you to enter the last digit of the code. Hope this helps.
