after some research, Epson offerred this:

The T-Fence may also be dirty or out of the carriage encoder. Check to make sure it is clean and in the center of the encoder.

where is the t fence located?

  • tom Feb 01, 2010

i have located the following diagram for the epson pro 4000:

    http://www.bytes2print.com/parts-service...

but cannot locate the legend to this diagram -do you know ?

  • tom Feb 01, 2010

can anyone shed light on the location of the T-fence and carrier encoder? or other solutions for the error message of 0001001D?

  • tom Feb 01, 2010

the carriage release tab is still in place and operates according to manufacturer. that is the only piece that may have been altered; however it still performs its function and is in the correct released position (far left). Can anyone else help with this?

  • tom Feb 01, 2010

I found that information on my own before joining FixYa. So far, the "experts" have not helped me at all!

  • tom Feb 02, 2010

thank you for your intelligent reply!

how do i locate these parts on the machine? I have a diagram, however, do not have the legend, (I found it online)

  • tom Feb 02, 2010

the field guide mentions that if the cap and pump assembly are not properly seated, it will give carriage errors. when i performed manual cleaning i removed the flushing box, cleaned it and replaced it. i did nothing else; except had a hard time figuring out how to move the print head to the left. It seems to move to the left easily without depressing the cutter blade. left in the left position, it moves to the right side easily when turned on, continues further to the right, i hear a sliight thump and the error message comes on.

  • tom Feb 04, 2010

This last solution is the closest to being helpful, however, I read that if the cap assembly or flushing tank is not properly seated, it can give carriage movement errors. That is what I did - take out the flushing unit and replace after cleaning, then the error message...

I am looking for a service repair place or engineer for this problem in the Brooklyn area,of zipcode 11205. Does someone know a reliable tech or repair center that could handle this issue other than the center Epson recommended who wants to charge me $225.00/hr just to look at it? and then $225.00/hour + parts.

  • tom Feb 14, 2010

Thank you for this information. Yes, I believe the encoder alignment is off and I will try this repair today. Thanks again for this detailed information, it was worth joining the site for your response and one or two others here. Thanks also for your advice regarding the manual, however the

Servicemanual site is a rip-off! They charge about $25 - 30 for a manual that I was able to find online for free. Most manuals are down-loadable by manufacturer online for FREE! Please advise others of this as well and do not send them to that site which will charge them for free information!
    Thanks again.

  • tom Feb 14, 2010

Excellent suggestions and directions surpassing 6 other experts! Only thing that is not a good idea is your advice about theservicemanualshop. They charge for manuals that can be downloaded for FREE on most manufacturers' sites. Thank you! Tom

001001D is a servo parameter error.

Most likely it's because you moved the carriage off the capping station and a sensor is sensing the error.

If the print head is still on the left, turn the printer off and back on. If the print head is in its normal docking position, move it to the left and turn printer off and back on.

Things you should Check:

  1. Check the basics first:Is the encoder attached and correctly routed through the optical sensor
  2. Is the encoder strip clean - if there is a splodge on it, this will result in error
  3. If you have done maintenance, check all the connections you made are good
00010004 Motor encoder check error

00010004 error relates to the encoder strip for the carriage motor (The encoder strip is like a piece of graph paper and the head has an eye that reads how many lines it passes). This is so the machine know exactly where the head is at any point

The error means that the machine is not correctly reading the encoder impulses. The encoder, eye or the circuit board may be broken even the cable could be faulty. It could be that you have done maintenance that one of the connectors has been replaced with incorrect polarity.
There is no one answer I can give you. If you need further help with this, there a good section in the service manual that gives a sequence of areas to test to pin down the fault. Get a manual from http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com

I hope this gets you going and thank you for the chance to help.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to to ask.

Make sure the carriage locking tab is pulled all the way out. Then turn the printer's power off and release the carriage by pushing down on the cutter blade. Slide the carriage to the left and look for any paper that also may be restricting the carriage from moving freely.

Service Request errors in the range 00010004 - 000101D are related to a carriage movement problem. In some instances like paper jams, the carriage locking tab may be partially pushed in, causing the carriage locking mechanism to put a drag on the carriage or lock the carriage completely. This will cause any of the carriage errors.

Hello,

This seems to be more of a hardware problem than a software issue.
The error messages might be resulting from lack of hardware functionality.
You might have accidentally damaged a hardware component during the cleaning process.

Unfortunately, when it comes to printer hardware, it is almost impossible to tell where the exact problem is, unless the printer is physically looked at.

To get this problem better looked at, and have it solved, you will have to take it to a service center, where the problem will be detected, and fixed.

Thank you for using Fixya,
Kenneth.

    Hello,

Have you tried a local computer repair shop?
I dont think you have to take it to a very expensive place.
If you can find a local computer repair shop, they will fix it for you at a much cheaper cost.

    Thank you,
    Kenneth

    Hello,

What they are charging you could cost more than the printer itself.
Unfortunately i live in Africa and dont know any local repair centers in Brooklyn, but i am sure if you look around you will find a much cheaper place.
If you can take it where you bought the printer from, they might be having a repair service there, they could help you.
You do not have to take it to a place Epson recommended, this problem can be solved by a skilled technical expert at a local service center.

    Thank you,
    Kenneth

The 0001001d means CR servo parameter error.

Check the CD encoder sensor and the CD scale must free of dust.
check the CD timing belt must have no defects and proper tension
the carriage unit must move freely
all the harness must be connected properly

perform the cr timing belt tension adjustment
if these dont work,
then replace in the following order.
1. encoder sensor
2. cr motor
3. main board.

I hope this helps

Hi,
If you knowingly broke something while cleaning it, then most likely the damage you did to the unit is causing the errors. It is best to follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer and always use care when dealing with any internal parts of a printer. You may want to consider repair or replacement.
Thank you,
Lee

Epson stylus pro 4000 i have a clogged nozzle cant move it other 7 are fine

Inkjet printers needto be used frequently to prevent ink drying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, thenprint head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

Epson Stylus Pro 4000 got the 0001001B error, I tried to restart the machine, but the error still comes up.

When determining a solution for an error, always look to what changes you instituted just prior to the error. In my case, I switched from FW to USB. That brought on the 0001001b head driver (tg) temperature error. When I switched back to FW, the error went away and the SP4000 display reads "Ready"
