Could be 1 of 3 possibility 1 the heat sink has
lost it's thermal seal , The unit must dissembled
and replacement of the heat sink compound on the
G.P.U-C.P.U.'s heat sinks . This is more common
with unit that are played vertically. 2 is the thermostat
connections on the G.P.U. to the G.P.U. has broken
free/disconnected due to thermal fatigue . some times
re-flowing the G.P.U. will remedy the problem.
3 the thermocouple that is built in to the chip sets
G.P.U.- C.P.U. has failed so the unit always thinks
it's hot but it's not , this is a terminal unit. (Scrap)

Make sure nothing is near the vents for one. And that it gets plenty of cool air. Try placing a small fan near it. If this still does not help, it might be an issue with your heatsink, which is something you should contact microsoft for.

SOURCE: every time try toplay xbox 360starts to read game

This can be caused by a dirty laser in the drive. Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and alcohol. If this does not fix the problem, the laser may need to be replaced. Contact Microsoft and see if the unit is still under warranty.

My xbox 360 keeps shutting off during play

This is most likely caused by the system shutting down because it is overheating. Put the console in a well ventilated area and try playing. This should solve your problem.

IT SEEMS I HAVE A PROBLEM READING GAMES...IT TAKES AWHILE TO WARM UP...YOU HAVE TO KEEP STARTING...AND THEN EVENTUALLY IT WILL "CATCH" AND START TO PLAY...WHAT IS WRONG?

If your Xbox 360 will not play your games this is because of the sensors on the back of the drive overheating it is not normally the laser.

Luckily you can fix this yourself and get back to your games and to do this you need the proven Xbox 360 Repair guide.

Or you can send it in and they will fix it for you the repair will take about 4 weeks.

You can use the recommended guide to fix this and get back to gaming.

Once you stop the heat it iwll work.

Your Xbox is overheating. Its a common issue. You can do as I did and strap some fans to the bottom and help cool it off. Eventually you will probably get a RROD (Red Ring Of Death). At that point you will need to send it in to Microsoft for repair.
