Question about Quantaray Tech-10 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Lens for Nikon

1 Answer

Does a Quantary AF70-300 Lens fit on a Nikon D5000 camera. It claims to, but I cannot get it to fit. If not, is there an adapter that will work?

Thank you SO much...that really helped. I did buy it new, but for a Pentax...I thought it was for both Pentax and Nikon...but alas, it is not...so I'm out of luck...but I truly thank you for your response.

What mount is on the lens? Quantaray makes their lenses for a variety of cameras, and each requires a manufacturer-specific mount.

If you bought the lens new, did you specify a Nikon mount?

If you bought it used, what did the seller claim?

Are you sure you're aligning it right? Remember, Nikon lenses turn the "wrong" way, compared to the way almost everything else in the world screws in.

There should be a letter N (or NIK) marked somewhere on the mount if it is a Nikon mount. If it's not, then there is no adapter that will make it fit.

Sorry to hear you got the wrong one. Any chance you can take it back for an exchange or a refund?

Nikon d5000 says lens not fitted

Still make sure you did turn the lens till it clicks.
You could remove the lens, and clean all contacts both from the camera and the lens, with a dry and clean cloth. Don't use any sharp tool in or close by a camera.
After cleaning, refit the lens. If the error comes back, try another lens, to locate if the lens has an error, or the camera does.

Can I buy an adapter to use the 28-200 mm Sigma Aspherical lens fitted to my nikon d5000 camera

That depends on the lens. Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. If the lens has a Nikon mount then you don't need an adapter at all.

Since the Nikon lens mount has a deeper flange depth than other mounts, you cannot fit a lens with another mount onto a Nikon body without losing the ability to focus to infinity. Because of this, you won't find an adapter for another mount. Adapters are available to fit Nikon lenses onto other cameras but not the other way around.

After dropping my nikon d5000 camera the lense doesn't seem to fit

If you drop one, the main components that can get damaged are the lens elements, the focusing ring, the aperture ring, the lens mount and the filter mount. Some of these components are much easier to fix than others.

DOES SIGMA 70-210MM UC MF FIT AND USABLE ON NIKON D5000

Sigma makes lenses for a variety of cameras. If the lens has Nikon mount then it will fit onto the D5000. However, it's a manual focus lens so naturally you won't get autofocus. The lens also lacks the electronics to communicate with the camera, so you will get no help from the camera's exposure meter and you'll have to shoot in Manual exposure mode.

I now use this lens on Nikon N5005 and want to purchase the D5000 camera. Is this lens compatible?

Yes and no. The lens will fit on the D5000 without a problem. But the sensor on the D5000 is smaller than a frame of 35mm film so you'll end up using only the center portion of the image. What this amounts to is that the lens will act like a 115-450 zoom would on the N5005. Also, if the lens doesn't have a focus motor built in (Sigma calls it HSM) then it won't autofocus on the D5000. You can still focus manually, though.

Will the Quanta 28-200 for the Nikon n75 work on the Nikon D5000?

Yes and no. I assume the lens is of more or less the same vintage as the N75? If so, the lens will fit onto the D5000. All of the camera's exposure and metering modes will work properly. However the lens lacks an interal focus motor and thus will not autofocus on the D5000. You can focus manually, and the green focus indicator in the viewfinder will continue to work.

Is the older vivitar 80-200mm f4.5 compatable to nikon d5000

Assuming the lens has a Nikon mount, then yes and no.

The lens will fit on the D5000. You will not have any autofocus capability. Nor will you get any metering assistance from the camera's light meter. But if you're willing to focus and meter manually, the lens will work with the D5000.

Lens works fine in manual focus on Nikon D5000 but won't autofocus.

The D5000 needs an AF-S lens to autofocus.
Nikon have not fitted the mechanical focus drive to the D5000.
