Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer
You need to clean the encoder strip, it's the clear strip that runs across behind the carriage assembly. Use a Q-tip damp with alcohol and don't press too hard. With a light you'll see ink or grease spots that cause the carriage to lose it's place while moving across the page.

Testimonial: "Didn't solve issue, but helped. Expected 'play' in strip, but was quite loose. Found attachment on right side was broken. Think that's the problem."
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
