Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
Iam having probs with new games with ps 2 picks up silver discs and does not pick up blue discs noticed as well that some games are marked as dvd rom which play and now bought new silver discs which are made by blast software they are silver but dont play keep coming up with disc read error have tried to fix problem by adjusting laser worked on them and then wouldnt pick old games up so adjusted to origonal setting old games work again but when try new games it picks up then starts clicking have noticed these new games have not got dvd rom on them have got compact disc but have had them working but dont work all the time can you help cheers lee
Actually the clicking means that the laser guide arm is slipping over the worm gear that moves the laser. You can replace it or bend the one you have back in place.

Your lasers on the way out.
it,s all to do with the power output of the laser head, and the angle for reading the 2 different disk types.
i,d suggest getting a new laser fitted. not too expensive usually with older consoles. Try E-Bay :)

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
