Most cable companies will provide you a high def. cable box for no additional cost. swap digital for high def box. run dvd into high def cable box and run hdmi output from cable box to lg input. hope this helps

I need severe help. LG cant even help me. I have an LHT854 home theater system. The only time I can use surround sound, is if I watch a dvd player on it. My Tv's only "Out" is an Optical out....

Is the digital TV-related sound actually originating in the unidentified TV or would it be better to get it at, say, the Cable Box, which IS a hi-fi component, whereas TV's are amost always NOT so?

I'm pretty sure the TV manual may explain the use of its optical output.

I don't know how to hook up my LG lht854 to my time warner cable box so that it plays the tv audio. please help

Treat the Cable Box like any other audio device.

IF the cable Box has optical digital output, run it to the LG. Run the analog audio output of the Cable Box to the TV so you can watch lo-fi shows without the LG turned on.

The best Cable Box Video should go directly to the TV.

I CANT GET THE TV SOUNDS ON THE PLAYER

Do you mean from a tv program? You have to have the device such as a cable box or sat go through the dvd player by an input cable such as composite, componet or through hdmi. Then select the aux or aux input using the input buttons.

I can't get my coby DVD 937 to play sound while watching tv. It works fine while playing a DVD or CD????

there should be an input line of just audio cable hookups (one red and one white) that you have to run and an output cable from your tv audio output of just red and white. make sure the tv says output or line out and the surround sound system says input or line in

Lg home theater to lg plasma tv

This is a typical problem with TV broadcast UNLESS you use a matrix DSP surround sound mode, most DVD audio is either Dolby digital 5.1 surround or DTS multi-channel surround sound, unless you are viewing a HDTV broadcast with 5.1 Digital sound connected from the TV to the receiver then you are probably receiving a 2 channel Stereo sound format, I would suggest that you try to set your TV input mode to a audio Dolby Pro- Logic which will yield 5.1 and should engage all speakers.

The easiest way to proceed is by using RCA cables (the red, white, yellow) to connect the cable box.

Don't worry about sending the TV audio to the Panasonic. Just send a digital audio signal from the cable box to the Panasonic.

DVD - Panasonic connected via HDMI
TV - Panasonic connected via HDI
cable connected to cable box and TV. But you will not really be using the cable connection to the TV (TV Tuner) since you will want HD feed from cable box through HDMI input on TV.

You aren't concerned about feeding the TV speakers because your audio will always come from the home theatre.

Note that some components don't feed audio through HDMI, in which case you will need to use optical digital audio.
