the printr port driver might have been corrupted control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow?question mark this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver,disable,uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options plus you can troubleshoot hope this helps
Make sure that the Lexmark Imaging Studio program is running. This was installed when you set up your printer. If you see the multi-colored icon in your task bar for Lexmark Imaging Studio then try pressing the scan mode button twice. You should be able to scan then.

you know some of the operating system if there is a corrupted file or dll some of the printers, USB and other devices in-counter this kind of problem you need to fix first your operating system then after that remove your printer driver and re-install again then then try to scan again..... hope this solution help you...
