DId you plug it in the wrong plug under the sink. The top plug can be controlled from the switch or is constantly pot no switch. Try one of the other plugs under the sink.

Thousands of dry metallic micro balls were blasted all over under the sink after turning on a stuck Badger 5. Did they come from the Badger 5?

Without further information, it is difficult to determine the source of the dry metallic micro balls that were blasted under the sink after turning on the stuck Badger 5. However, it is possible that these metallic micro balls could have come from the Badger 5 disposal unit if it had deteriorated or experienced internal damage.
The Badger 5 disposal unit is typically made of metal components, including blades and grinding elements. Over time, these components can wear down or become damaged, potentially leading to the release of metallic debris. If the disposal unit was stuck or malfunctioning, it could have caused excessive friction or stress on its internal components, resulting in the release of metallic particles.
It is recommended to inspect the Badger 5 unit closely for any signs of damage or deterioration. If there are visible issues, such as broken blades or loose parts, it may be necessary to replace or repair the disposal unit. Alternatively, if the source of the metallic micro balls is uncertain or unrelated to the disposal unit, it might be worth investigating other potential sources, such as pipes, plumbing fittings, or any nearby metallic objects that could have been affected.

There is anail stuck inthe garbage disposal we can see it but it is stuck or bent in the side where the wholes are we cant seemto be able to move it it must be bent or stuck how do we get at it?

Turn power off.
Buy new disposal to have on-hand in event that nail cannot be removed.
Loosen 2 nuts on p-trap to disconnect disposal from tubular drain.
Remove disposal from sink attachment.

Once disposal is removed, there will be easier access to nail.
Use channel locks, vice grips, or any gripping tool to twist or bend nail.
Try to rotate cutter disk with allen wrench on bottom, or wood stick from above.
Use tips on link above to reattach / or replace disposal

Disposal is rusted out and needs to be replaced.
If you plug the hole, the motor compartment will fill with water and short out the electric.

Badger 5 is about 15 years old and is leaking from the bottom -- from the reset button, the plate on the bottom, and around the electric cord. Can I fix it or does it need replacing?

Once disposal rusts out, it needs replacement.
Usually if sink basket seal is broken or if dishwasher attachment is leaking, you can feel water near top of disposal.
Use paper towel at top to see if that area is wet.
If top area is dry, then water is coming from inside disposal, and disposal is rusted out.

If sink seal is still good, we used to buy same brand disposal and re-attach to same sink basket. That's the quick fix.
If this is inside your home, you probably want to install new sink basket that comes with disposal.

To install new disposal, also buy container of plumber's putty to seal sink basket.
Remove disposal.
Clean off old putty on sink. It will chip off easily.
Apply finger-thick amount of plumbers putty to sink opening.
Set disposal sink basket into putty and push down.
Tighten screws on bottom of sink basket.
Wipe away excess plumber's putty from sink so it looks nice and smooth.

Before lifting disposal into place, attach electric wires and attach dishwasher hose to disposal.
Use hammer and screwdriver to remove steel blocker located inside dishwasher stem ... the blocker is left in place if no dishwasher hose is attached.
Disposals can be different: But here's the usual sequence:
Lift disposal with one hand and hold level. Push up strong while rotating attachment ring until ring grabs bottom of sink basket.
If you cannot lift disposal with one hand while rotating attachment ring with other hand, use small bottle jack from auto-parts store. And put piece of wood between bottle jack and aluminum disposal so disposal doesn't break.

Here's how to handle tubular pipes below sink:
Any tubular pipe joint that moved while removing or installing disposal, has to be taken apart, cleaned and re-attached.
If washers are plastic, then clean and re-use.
If washers are rubber, then replace each washer with new rubber washer.
When reattaching tubular pipes, apply generous amount of rectorseal over each plastic or rubber washer for first-time seal of tubular pipes.

Properly piped, your arrangment should look similar to this picture so that there is a separate trap for the disposal and the other sink basin.

In sink erator is leaking from bottom

I had this happen right before my disposal stopped working completely. Mine was leaking from the same place. The one I had was a 2 year Badger. They are easy to replace. If yours still works I would keep using it and just sit a pan down below to catch water. A new Badger 1 year cost $80 at Home Depot. If you get one, do not worry about buying extra gaskets or the black sink strainer thing because the new one will come with everything needed except for the plumbers putty. You will need plumbers putty. Good Luck

Badger 5 EX 3/4 Hp In sink Erator

the disposal is attache to the button of th sink by means of ring and clamps.
take a look how th ekitchen sink is mounted. the disposal is mounted the same way. you may need to get new rubber seal and a new plate for the buttom, where the screws is. you can take the ring to the near home center of plumbing store, and get a replacement.

you can use "plumber's putty", or " goop" .thing else will keep the water out.
