Question about Sony Televison & Video
I never like to give people bad news but here is what is wrong:
This set uses an optical light engine---lamp is the light source and shines into the engine through a series of lens and baffles---blue part is closest to the lamp----
A discoloration of blue across any area of the screen means the optical engine has been damaged by heat---damage is permanent and may get worse the longer the set is used.
I would suggest you contact SONY as they did have for this model and some others an extended warranty even if the set is not currently covered under warranty.
If you give me the precise complete model number I can usually get you a part number for the engine and a price---most are at least 600 wholesale and some are more---not counting major labor to replace the unit. All the engines are sold on an exchange basis as they rebuild them for this kind of problem---the replacements are not supposed to have this kind of trouble.
Again, I am sorry to give you bad news but I have seen over 20 of these sets with this type of problem--no adjustment or do it yourself repair will cure this problem.
Let me know if you have questions or need advice--I am here to help.
