I tried that and it didn't work. IE is now coming up and then going closing before connecting. Interesting note....there is an icon for itunes on the desktop. I was able to connect to itunes but I still can't get IE to connect. I have compared all the settings on IE to my other computer and everything seems to match. Any more ideas?

If you still have trouble let me know who your ISP is and the make and model of your router.

Sorry I didn't see your last sentence. My ISP is Northland Cable. The router is Motorola Surfboard Model: SB5100. Since I have three other computers connected and they are working fine, and since I've turned it and the router off and on several times, I don't think that's the issue.

  • molliewalker Feb 01, 2010

I've also turned off the affected computer several times and I'm running a complete virus scan.

  • molliewalker Feb 01, 2010

FYI - virus scan came up clean.

That part works so apparently it's the IE. I can't get to the internet to download Mozilla Firefox. Can I download it to a removeable drive and then install it on the computer?

  • molliewalker Feb 02, 2010

I downloaded Mozilla and it doesn't want to connect to the internet. Since I can't get on the internet with the notebook, I saved Mozilla on a removeable drive and added it to the notebook. Now what?

After connecting wireless internet .
Go to start menu->run type in run "ping yahoo.com -t" then press ok then if you get reply from... then your internet on router works fine.
Then you need to check your computers dns client.
Type in run "services.msc" then press enter in then it shows all services then click on wright pane then you can DNS client right click on it then stop and restart again.
then check.
Also scan your computer with updatede antivirus if still same issue.
Avast, quickheal and malewarebytes are best antivirus .
You can download from below 3 link.

Download above 3 antivirus and install in computer 1 by 1 then update all 1 by 1 and scan computer with it.Install 1 antivirus at a time then install other after removing old.
But if you receive request time with command " ping yahoo.com -t" then there is not any issue with compute but something rong with router.
For that make sure all cable are connected proeprly into router.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet lan cable then you can access it with following default link.
http;//192.168.1.1
.or
http://192.168.0.1
For belkin router
http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Then make check WAN settings it should be set as your internet service provider settings.
Enable DHCP on router..
Also check channel type 3, 4, and 11 are best for it.
Then save settings and restart router.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

First try to tracert your problem goto the command prompt and type

c:\tracert www.fixya.com

Wireless connecting but IE not connecting to inter - 6359a74.jpg

This will tell you where your problem lies if the destination is found it means that your TCP/IP.SYS file is fine the problem will lie in your browser settings.

I suggest that you install a new browser Mozilla Firefox and then try again if this works then it IE that is your problem its a good idea to cleanout all your cache and settings using Ccleaner from Piriform this is a good choice as it lets you back up the changes if they cause problems later on.

Sorry that you are having trouble getting on the Internet. The first thing I would ask is have you tried to reset your modem and router. This will happen from time to time.

If you have not this is what you need to do. Unplug both devices AC power. Next plug in your modem and wait about 15 to 20 seconds this will make sure the modem starts up properly. Next plug in your router and again wait about 15 to 20 seconds then try to reconnect. If you still have trouble reboot your computer.

If you still have trouble let me know who your ISP is and the make and model of your router.

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you I had not had computer time this last week.

The next question I would have for you is have you tried to connect your modems ethernet connection directly to the computer.

Also have you double checked your network connection to make sure you did not have setting set in there that is conflicting with your network connections. If you are not surre how to check them let me know your version of Windows and i can give you a walk through.

Want to go wireless for acer notebook but do not know what router to use, acer has no disk slot to upload software

If your computer has wireless adpater then you do do not need any drivers to install the wireless. The wireless router should automatically detect the network. First check if your computer is detecting any networks. To do so, click on the wireless icon on your computer taskbar nearby to system time (bottom right hand corner), if you are able to see your wireless network, if yes, select it and click connect, once connected, open IE and try to access web page. If in case ou are not able to view any web page and connection remains active, I suggest you try to connect in "Safemode with Networking", to do so, restart the computer and as soon as it restarts keep on tapping F8 key, now select "Safemode with Networking" from the Advance boot menu. Try to connect to internet. If you are able to connect to Internet then the issue is with the firewall on you computer, contact the firewall manufacture for settings. If you are still unable to connect to Internet, then the Internet setting are not correct, you may need to contact the ISP.

Look below your arrow keys, near the bottom edge of the computer. There's a wireless indicator there, and on the edge itself there is a switch. You might have turned it off accidentally.

Open network connections and disable your wireless connection (right click) then renable it and try to connect. What program are you using to manage your wireless connection?
If you are using your manufaturers software then try using windows xp (or vice versa)

Acer aspire one notebook - Unable to download

There could probably be a malware or spyware on your computer. Better run Adaware or Spybot to check for any malware and remove from system. Also run Anti-virus software then do not forget to clear cache by going in your IE browser's Tools>Internet Options> Delete all temporary internet file, cookies etc.
