Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

The left channel is damaged.

I own an Aragon 4004 Mk II amplifier. The left channel is not working and has damaged the speaker. I don't live in the US. I'm looking for the manuals and diagrams to try to diagnose and fix the problem.

Have you replaced the semiconductors for the left channel on the heatsink. These are the main culprits for speaker damage.

Tough one. I repair these for a living. A number of possibilities exist. Likely output transistors are blown on the bad channel. Fuses are likely blown. If the fuses are BLACK inside, don't just put new fuses in, more damage WILL occur. This is a bit more than 'good with a soldering iron' will fix. You need to know how to test an output transistor. You need to look up the transistor type so you know what it is. A service manual will be a big help (I could not find one online.) If more than two outputs are gone on the one side, all should be changed, they are supposed to be MATCHED. Remove and replace all damaged outputs, or replace them all if two are blown. Find the driver transistors and check them for short circuits. After repair, start the amp on a dummy load of a 250watt light bulb to prevent destroying the amp if there is a problem. If you are unsure of any part of this, find an electronics technician to help.

KA-994 Model Right speaker channel not working. How do I fix it?

Hello
Check the speaker of the right side first for damage. Connect it to left side and listen whether it works or not. If it works with left side, make sure that the audio output section circuit to the left side inside your amp has damaged and should be replaced. If the speker does not works with connecting it to the right side, make sure that the speaker has damaged. OK.

"im no proffetional at this". Really?

If you looked at the manuals for either product you would NEVER find a recommendation to use one amplifier's speaker input to drive the LINE LEVEL (very small) input on another amplifier. Speaker outputs are for driving speakers or amplifiers designed to accept speaker-level input (like some self-powered subwoofers). In no case is the power of the originating amplifer BOOSTING the power of the driven one.

You should do some reading on how amplifiers work before you blow something up and come asking for advice on how to resolve it.

3 of 4 10 amp fuses blew in an aragon 8008 amp. sockets spark when attempting to put replacement fuses in.

The reason they spark is that there is still power and load when you put the fuse in instead of putting the fuse in put a mains light bulb with its terminals onto the fuse terminals and this will safely discharge your capacitors and making sure that your power is off put your fuse in there should be no spark and switch on if the fuse still blows you have faulty gear

When right channel is wired it shorts out the power supply. Aragon 8008 when powered up without input and output, no problem. When connected with speakers and line level feed in, the left channel works...

Fuses blow when there is an overload caused by a short circuit. If the speaker you connect up to the amp causes a short. There is either a shorted part in the speaker or the wires to it are touching at some point. Assuming you can sort out the speaker issue and connecting a good speaker with good wiring and it still causes a short and blows a fuse. Then it's likely the output device(s) in the right channel have developed a short themselves. Perhaps as a result of being connected to faulty wiring or speakers.

I have a faulty speaker will it damage my new 2 chanel amp

Yes it is important that the speakers you are connecting to the new amplifier is working good and having equal impedance inthe left and right channels. hence if you are confimed that the speakerr is faulty first of all replace the speaker or the speaker coils and diaphragm before you connect to the amplifier to be powered. Please also check if the network has any damage before taking an impedance check. This should be identtical to both the channels. If so you are ready to use your new amplifier. Hope this helps to guide you. Good day

Installation

If you've got a standard 4 speaker system (2 front, 2 rear), your best option is to connect both left speakers to the left channel amp output and both right speakers to the right channel amp output. The only thing you lose is the ability to fade the speakers front to back.
