Hi,
A lot of information will be needed from you. First off what is the make and model of the surround sound system? Also what type of connection are you using from the blu ray to your surround sound? have you changed the options of the blu ray player at all to make sure it is outputting the audio that your looking for?
Please give me as much detail as possible so I can best assist you.
Thank you,
Lee

What code do i use for my One for all big easy URC-4330B03 to program it to my sony blueray dvd player BDP-BX1

Use code search to find something that works. If a search through all codes stored in the remote fails, you may have to try a different universal remote. All universal remotes do not store all possible codes.

My sony bdp bx1 is updated and still can not play any universal and some Columbia and Fox discs

Will it play standard DVD discs, if yes there is a problem with the laser pickup assembly, blu-ray disc require greater precision and speed when playing these discs because of the higher resolution.

After update player will not turn on. I have verified that unit has power. model number BDP-N460

The problem with updates is if they don't do a good job of flashing the BIOS, it renders the unit worthless. If that's what happened, it's a repair shop fix.

Certain movie will not play /

You need to update the firmware. go to www.sonystyle.com then to support, type in your model #' and look for downloads. Complete instructions are given to the user as to the installation process. If you have difficulty, Contact Sony Support directly and they will send you the firmware updates on disc at N/C. Hope this helps

My Sony Blu Ray player BDP BX1 won't play any disc, blu ray or regular DVD ? Did the online software update.

I assume you tried the software update after the unit failed. If it quit working because of the firmware update, you may have received a corrupted file. In that case, try downloading a new copy on a different computer or to different media, and repeat the update.

If (assuming hardware problems and not bad firmware) it cannot play any optical disk, not even audio or photo CDs, I would suspect the laser in the optical drive has gone bad. Replacement is not a lot of work, but the part is probably about $50. I think it's likely this is the same part used in the Sony Playstation 3, which had some problems with lasers dying too soon when it first came out.

Here's a way to check: first, insert a DVD in the player. Unplug it and remove the top cover. Caution: do not tip the player with the DVD inside. CAUTION. Directly viewing the laser can cause severe damage to your vision. DO NOT put your face over the DVD drive - ever - while it is plugged in. Observe it from the front, a little off to one side. Before plugging in, check the ceiling overhead and make sure there are no mirror-finish or glassy reflecting objects above the player. The DVD must be in first for safety reasons; it covers the laser. The rest is additional precaution.

Now, plug in and turn on the player. In normal operation, the laser comes on, and the lens moves up and down to focus on the disk. You may see a blue glow in the center of the disk (especially in a dark room). If the laser is working and the laser/lens assembly is able to obtain a focus, the disk will start spinning. If the disk does not spin, the laser/lens assembly is the first suspect. It is also possible that the spindle motor drive is bad, but given the history of PS3 Blu-Ray drives...

If there is no movement of the lens assembly, check the power supply. If it is good, there is (by elimination) another problem with the lens assembly (controller problems, to the best of my knowledge, are rare). Because it has very tight assembly tolerances, the lens assembly is usually replaced as a unit rather than repaired in the field.

My Sony BDP-BX1 Blue Ray remote stopped working. I have replaced the batteries several times, but it does not work.

Check whether the remote is sending a signal by using a digital camera, still or video. While looking at the LCD screen of the camera, point it at the remote which someone else is pushing buttons on. If you see the (infrared) diode flashing on the remote, you know it's working and there is a problem in the BlueRay player.

If there's no flashing, the most common problem with remotes is the timing crystal inside breaking free of the circuit board, or maybe just a cracked solder joint to the crystal. Get someone who can solder to take the remote apart and check for this possibility.

CMT-BX1 won't play CD's - "No Disc"

If they're clean (i.e. not scratched up or dirty) store-bought CDs (burnt CDs can be iffy in some players), then yes you should return it.
