Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I have an Olympus c-70 zoom digital cam and when I turn it on there is a blue window on the screen with a "card setup" writing. All what I can choose is "power off" or "format". My problem is that I've just arrived home from Mexico and there are lots of pics on the memory card. I can see them on the screen of my olympics but not able to convert theme onto my pc. How can I solve this problem? Thanks, Janos See less

I have a cable connection and a memory card reader as well. When I try to convert my pics onto the computer by a card reader it seems to be okay, but all the pics are hurt. There is just a small part of the pic. I can see only the top part of a photo. (watching my pics on my cam's screen everything is okay and all pictures are okay).

Leethedeuce sent me a good answer but I was not clear when I tried to explain my problem.

Hi,
You may way want to try and purchase a USB memory card reader. Like this one:
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=usb+memory+card+reader&oe=utf-8&hl=en&cid=6738891064458734068&sa=title#p
Then put the card in the reader and download the pictures that way. If you are still having issues copying them. Then you may want to try recovery software that is available. If you need further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

Write protect or to unlock pic to delete them

Remove the card from the camera and look for the lock tab. On the image below, it is a yello tab located near the top of the left edge on the long side. This one is shown in the unlocked position. Yours is likely down - at the locked position. Simply push it up and reinsert into your camera and take pictures.

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Removal of write protection

Sounds like you will need to format the internal memory of the camera. This will permanently erase all the data from the memory and then you will be able to use it again. To format the memory: Press the Ok button - right arrow to Mode Menu - down arrow to Card tab - right arrow to card setup - right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect message and the memory can be used again.
