I operate a MacBook Pro and OSX10.5.2. I have a Canon i80 printer. A small portable model. I cannot get itto print. The message is I need to align the printer head. Or do a Printer head cleaning. The instruction is to click application click Utilities click BJ Printer center. I can do the first two steps, but there is no Print Center, or BJ Print Center. I have reinstalled the program to no avail

Also have you used the printer before and had any problems or is this a new printer let me know ok

If the bj printer center is not listed then this could mean a problem with the software or even a conflict of software has any other printer been setup and installed on you comp as deleting the old software might be worth trying also when you reinstalled the software did you delete it first and do a fresh install.
If you are following the info as its written then their can only be a problem with the software.
have you tried holding down the on off button on printer for 10 sec this should reset the printer ill look now for you at how to allign or clean ill post back in few minutes ok just bare with me

You can also buy a print head cleaning kit and depending on the age and usage you might need to replace the print head

    7. click clean icon
    8. select ink tank for cleaning then click ok
    9. click ok to start cleaning
10 print nozzle check pattern by clicking on ok to test
11 once printed examine for quality
    12. if not correct click ok to return to print utility
    13. select deep clean
    14 click ok
    15. print another nozzle check print by holding down 'resume' button on printer untill power light flashes twice if still not good print out then replace any low ink tanks and perform another deep clean
    16. if you still have no joy then print head needs replacing
And also if you cant get printer to print anything just try holding down RESUME button on printer this should print of test nozzle sheet without doing it via comp this then would tell you if its software problem or printer problem.
If the print out is good then the problem is software related try and get a newer version of the software let me know if you still have problem and ill look for the software for you but just let me know ok speak soon

Need to replace Waste Ink Absorber on a Canon i80 printe. A window keeps coming up and now I can,t print any thing untill I replace this absorber. I can't even find it.

The absorber on this model runs across the back and looks almost like a C cell flashlight. It's called the drain pack assembly, #QL2-0194-000. It's tough to change and after you need to access the service mode to reset the counter.

My i80 canon printer not printing in black ink only in color. what is the problem? Rebecca

I think you have to check the settings on your printer, maybe it is set to print color alone, so you need to change it to print both black and color.

you can equally remove the black cartridge ink and clean the surface, maybe it is stock with dirt,

I wish you best of luck

I80 black cartidge not printing

get a q-tip and wet one end in water.  run wet q-tip along head a few times.  then take dry end and run along head again to dry it.  then run wet end again on the absorber side of head.  then dry with dry end.  replace parts, do a deep cleaning, and try a test print.

Installing canon i80 printer

If you have an old driver installed, remove it from your computer.
Visit a canon site , look for the download tab, enter your printertype and Operating system, look for your driver and download it.
After installation of the new driver : good luck :-)
