Question about RTO Farm-Tuff Manure Spreader 1800-Lb., 40-Bushel Capacity

1 Answer

I have a Roda 25 bushel manure spreader, the fins are turning, but the chain inside the bed is not. I suspect a rust problem. It is only 6 years old, but has been used very little. stored for the winter. Worked before I put it in the barn.

I have a model 33 John Deere manure spreader that has the beater gear box with worn gears that won't engage. I cannot get replacement gears due to age of unit. Is there a way to repair the gears by we

There is no way to repair a worn gear, this is due to the heat treating of the metal to toughen it against wear and tear of use, otherwise it wouldn't last but a few hours of operation, this precise heat treating of the steel can only be done with special equipment and requires special skills to pull off correctly, so no you will need to get new gears. I know from personnel experience that you can get parts for these old farm implements, call around and see what you can find out. I will say that worn gears are not the common reason for hard gear engagement, that would be worn shift dogs and synchro ring cones or worn gear shaft bearings.

I have an antique scotts metal drop speader # 35-3. Probably at least 30+ years old. The setting bar goes from 2 to 18. Scotts fertilizer products use different setting numbers that correspond to newer...

That model is a little over 45 years old, gotta love those metal spreaders! Many times the new Drop spreader settings will work for the older models as well, you just have to make sure it looks like its dropping at the right rate. That can be a little troublesome, but if you can estimate about 1/4 of the bag and cover the proper area for that amount you should be good to go. You can always give us a call and confirm settings with us first at 1-800-543-8873. Stacey at Scotts

Broadcasting mechanism and fins (in the spreader hopper) broke and came apart, rendering my 2 year old Scotts spreader useless. Where can I obtain the appropriate replacement part

I am sorry you are experiencing problems with your broadcast spreader. Scotts does have some replacement parts available, but it depends on the spreader you have. Please call Scotts at 800-543-8873 and we can see about a replacement part. Hilary @ Scotts

1. buy a steel brush then brush out as much rust as you can from the chain.
2. soak the chain to used motor oil for at least 30 min.
3. then try brushing out more of the rust then apply "singer" all purpose oil to it...enjoy!!!
