Try adding another good ground wire to the same spot. If I'm understanding what your saying, you are providing the ground when you touch it, so the ground that is there now, is no good. What light exactly are you referring to?

How do i fix the third brake light appearing in the rear window on a 2006 Buick LaCrosse?

Click on the link.
Wiring diagram for center high mount. Check voltage and ground. The white wire is voltage and the black wire is ground. The voltage comes from bcm. Use a test light, while somebody steps on the brake or use a heavy object on brake pedal. If there is voltage, the test light will light up. To check ground, black wire, with test light, Have test lite touching battery voltage, touch the black wire terminal, if the lite comes on, at least the ground is good enough to lite the test light. If you have good voltage and ground then I suspect the lamp assembly is faulty.

Buy and use a test light

A test light is invaluable to check for battery power, grounds, fuses, bulbs ect. Buy a good one and learn how to use it. For fuses, use the tip and touch it on each end, if both ends have power you now know that ONE, the fuse has power to it and TWO, the fuse is good. You can now check fuses without wasting time pulling and looking. Use a test light to check for grounds. put the wire clip to the positive post of the battery and touch the body or engine and check for light, light is good. Now to check if you negative cable (ground) is good, clip your wire to the negative terminal and touch the engine, any light is bad, check it while trying to start the engine. (a friend can help) if the light comes on, you have a bad ground. You can also use it to check your trailer plug, wiring and grounds.

My radio and dash lights wont work checked all fuses and they are goo please help

ford is notorious for having bad grounds which would cause your symptoms. Check the dash harness ground which should be on the main harness as it comes up from the steering column. It is better to check the ground circuit which can be done with a test light, just instead of grounding test light as usual use the grounding clip on a positive wire and touch tip of test light to ground, light on you have a good ground, no or dim light check ground attachment bolts or wire.

Where is the ground wire for the headlights on a 2004 hyundai accent

Buy a light tester first
Connect gator clip to a positive wire battery is best now touch metal this will show ground
Now pull lamp out
Check the wire connections
If no light comes on tester your ground is bad
You can cut wire splice and ground chassis
But always check fuses first
This is how you find grounds
If you installed radio or new electronics
They could have spliced into the ground for lamps
The light switch on dash is another place grounds go bad
Light tester is what you need
Everything else is simple

You have a blown tranny nuetral sensor
Its wired
But also at same time you have a faulty ground or power lead to reverse lights
Buy a circuit ground light tester there cheap
They come with alligator clip
Put on known ground then touch tip to hot wire light comes on ground good
You can check hot leads by finding a power lead and touch ground light will come on if wiring good
Theres also the reverse sensor below the shifter knob
If you did radio install you crossed wires undo the radio trace wires
Fuses only blow on a ground out
Make sure you have proper bulbs set for your car specific for colbolt
There might be look alikes but power to them can blow them if wrong

Why won't tail lights and break lights work when you pull switch at night to turn on lights of my 1996 dodge ram truck?

Did you check for voltage and ground at the tail lamps? For the tail lamps, black wire with yellow tracer is voltage. Use a testlight to check for voltage with headlamp switch on. If the testlite comes on you have voltage. Then test the ground wire, it is black. To check ground use testlite connected to battery voltage touch the black wire, if the lite comes on you have ground. Of course to use testlite, you have to touch bare wire, not insulation. Also check the fuse, my info says fuse 18--15 amp. Not only check the fuse, check for voltage on the fuse circuit, hot all the time. I give guys and gals the same info, I don't know how else.

I have a 1998 oldsmobile silhouette. The left turn signal works like a 4-way flasher while the right turn signal blinks dimly at the same time. When I step on the brake it messes it up even more and the...

I'd check ground circuit for lamps. Ground wire is black. Just to rule it out, you could pull the hazard fuse, then just concentrate on the turn signal.
I've had good luck with redundant grounds. You can use a test light to check ground. One end of test light touches battery voltage, the other end touches ground wire terminal, if the light comes on, at least the ground is good enough to turn on the test light.

Check the wire circuit for voltage and ground. The top wire is voltage, you can see the wire color, use a test lite, with lights on. The bottom black wire is ground for low beams, chassis ground. You can use test light to check ground, With test light touching voltage, touch ground wire terminal, if the light comes on, at least, the ground is good enough to lite the test light.

Headlights wont come on

if you have a test light check for power TO the fuse.there should be power at the fuse at all do this clamp test light to a good ground under the dash and touch the top of the fuse on ether side, power should be at both sides.if you got power, remove the headlight switch, test for power at ether the red, yellow or brown wire,if you have power here, turn on head lights unplug each head light test for power at each socket, test the ground at each socket to do this, clamp your test light to the POSITIVE side of the battery touch the other end to the ground side of the light socket if the test light does NOT light, fix the ground wires this procedure is the quickest so do this first than try the steps above
