Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a 42" vizio television. I have a digital cable converter box and a DVD/DVDR player hooked to it. The cable box is going into component 2 and the DVD is going to av2. We were watching the television and all of a sudden the Input menu started coming up and scrolling on its own. Then the television appeared to be searching for channels. I cut it off and waited a couple of minutes. Tried to turn it back on with the catv remote but it would not work. Tried to turn it on with the vizio remote and still no go. I was able to manually turn the set on. When it came back all it was was a blue screen with a "no input" flashing on the screen. I then turned it off and hooked the cable line directly to it. Turned it on manually and changed the input to tv. Still said "no input". I manually placed it on av1 and the DVD Player works just fine. Whats up?

This is definitely sounding like an internal problem with the television. First off how long have you owned the set and how long have you had this problem? Do you have the exact model number?
Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

    Hi,
Is the unit less then a year old? If so it is covered under manufacturers warranty and you would want to contact them immediately.

How do I hook up the DVD/VCR to cable box and Vizio HDTV?

both should be hooked directly to tv

VCR side of combo should be hooked up with composite video(yellow, red, white wires) to video 1 input

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

hope this helps

good luck

Sony str-dg820. having a problem getting video on tv

Hook up Composite / Component Monitor Out wire from receiver to TV video input because receiver will not change analog input into HDMI
You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

I have a Philips Model DVDR 3505/37 recorder. I recently hooked up a RCA analog to digital converter to the TV and to the DVD. Now it will not record. No error messages. Just no recording. Thanks

The Philips DVDR 3505/37 has a built-in analog to Digital converter. No additional converter is needed. Just do the scan for over the air channels and set to go. Works fine now.

Recording from cable dvr

You have to hook up an AV cable from the box to the DVDR.. Out on the cable box to IN on the DVD player.
Then put your DVD player on AV1 - ( you can do this by pressing the INPUT SEL button on the DVDR remote)

Then put the Cable box on whatever channel you want to record. And press the record button on the DVDR and you will record whatever channel the cable box is on

If you can't get to AV1 then you have to disable cable box control (menu>setup>system>cable box control>off
