You MUST first remove the imobiliser wire from the Coil, Ctrl box or wherever it is OR disable the alarm. It works by shorting some part of the ignition to earth, usually

Why won't it start?

It sounds like your battery doesn't have enough of power to start your vehicle up. It will click like that when the battery power is extremely low. I would suggest taking the battery to be tested first before buying a new battery. Many times when you try jumping it off of another vehicle and the battery is extremely low, it wont put enough of power out from the other vehicle to start it up with. You can also try letting the car stay on to charge the other battery up for around an hour and see if it may turn the car on then. If that doesn't help. then your battery may have bad cells in it and may need replaced. Hope that helps ya.

S2046 low battery tried to start. Replaced battery now no sound, no start. Yes did hook up correct cables. Where can I find images of safety switches?

When trying to start with a low battery the engine Sometimes will stop on the top of the firing stroke putting it under extreme compression..almost like being must turn tne engine backward a little just enough to get it off the compresdion stroke then try and start..This very same no click no nothing even when jump start happened to my cub cadet this summer after trying to start with a low battery...i used a pipe wrench and turned the dry shaft back and it started..then and all summer...give it a try good luck..

Want start and the headligts stay on

have you tried jump starting vehicle, does not take full battery charge for headlight to work, sounds like you have low or a bad battery, so try and jump start vehicle with jumper cables.

The dash lights up when the key is first turned but when I try to start there is a click and the dash goes black. Could this just be a low battery?

hi yes this sounds like the battery is either, flat..low, or has come loose, check the terminals on the battery make sure they are good and tight and have grease on them ( stops corrosion) if everything is ok in that department, then try the battery itself, try getting a jump start from another vehicle, this will tell you if it is flat, then it will be a case of why has it gone the battery low on fluid, just top it up and charge, is the battery old, and just could be u/s, or it could be the battery is good, and the alternator is not charging it, check this out with a volt meter, jump start the vehicle, test on battery, if it reads 12.5 volts on idle, and 13.5 to 14 volts on 1000 rpm, its a good alternator, if it is lower than any of them, your alternator needs replacing, if it is over them voltages, your alternator is u/s as this is overcharging the battery which will kill it, so you will have to change both then...hope this is what you wanted, please vote and comment thanks

95 jetta wont start unless you pop start it i changed the starter i have all the power just when i turn the key nothing

check your fuses under the hood and under the dash
check polarity of battery (if you unhooked booth leads)
is the battery any good?
you probly conected the leads to the starter incorectly (recheck them)

(the following asume your tur n key ignition system is functioning properly)
to test your tur n key system simply hook up a test light to the small lead running to the starter cylynoid "while the wire is disconected" and have a friend turn the ignition over. [dont furget to test the test light first lol]

or even got the wrong starter completly (usaly a store problem)
did you " bench test" the new/used starter befor installing it ?
iv goten brand new starters doa

is the ground strap hooked up ? is there corosian on the battery posts or any of the high amperage conections?

is the cylynoid on the starter or somewhere else under the hood?
cautiously try to bypass the cylynoid ie run a hot wire to the small lead on the cylynoid
(this can usaly be done by jumping from the main red wire on the starter to the hot lead of the cylynoid)

notes: when bypassing the ingnition system (jumping the cylynoid)
DO NOT have the ignition in the on postion and it is best to remove the lead from the cylynoid (incase of a short in the wire's some place)

if nothing remove the large red wire on the cylynoid and touch it directly to the starter lead itself (there will be a fair amount of spark when doing this its normal) but make shur you are conecting to the starter lead and not a gound point as this will cause exsesive sparking that isn't good
dose the starter tur n the engine over
back track untill you find the fault be it starter itself, cyclynoid, wiring, blown fuse, corosion, bad battery,

still cant find the problem take it to a shop!
hope i helped yah

that pretty much sounds like a bad battery, next time its jumped, autozone or any other shop like that will usually test the battery for free. if you have a volt meter, measure the voltage on the battery with the vehicle on and off. vehicle running should have about 14.4 volts, and off 12.6 at a full charge. if there is low voltage at the battery after a full charge, its most likely the battery.

Jump start bike, at full throttle volt meter reads 12 at idle not charging

The lower the voltage the higher the amperage. At twlve volts the charging sytem should be pooring the coals to the battery. Bttery sounds more like the culprit. If battery charges up corectly, the voltage will slowly rise to 14,.2 after startup. Have battery charged and load testest out of vehicle (bike) As battery goes bad the charging system works harder and speeds up battery quietus( death)

S class

you can jump directly to the battery. the procedure for doing this is as follows connect the positive cable to the dead vehicle(yours) then connect the ground cable either to the battery or to the engine block. then conect the positve cable to the jump vehicle then connect the ground. start the jump vehicle and rev engine to 1500-2000 rpm for 2 minutes. let vehicle idle for 5 minutes. then try and start dead vehicle. sometimes the whole thing takes 10 to 15 minutes to be successfull. please rate the solution.........thanks
