Hi people! here is one for you-anyone have a clue how to redo windows on a notebook, without a working keyboard or touchpad? the keyboard controller failed 2 years ago-I came up with a work around 2 have a external keyboard that only works after windows loads. and it runs very well! my issue is I want 2 redo windows-but need to press f8 for the agreement.

I should have said-also usb ports have not worked in years-they were the first to fail-and l never used them-only for a flash drive once and a while-and without keyboard, have not been able 2 get in the bios. so i think there is little hope for these 2 notebooks,as they suffer the same problems= I do not think there is a usb keyboard function for these-my desktop has this option. the ati chipset in these are the main problem. and they have never been abused or beat up in any way.if you look at all the problems for these models, you will see that they have same issues as mine! I was looking for a way 2 beat the f8 key-then i could use it with my external desktop set,but this hase been useful only when windows boots.need new notebook is the solution-kicking a dead horse on these-thought i may try redo of windows using the desktop to the notebook drive, propriatory software may cause this to fail, as the config is an issue, as the desktop is an intel-nvidia deal-notebook is ati, and the acer software will fight me in this- but it may be my last try-before i throw them away!next one will not be an acer-this is for sure! thanks for the suggestion though!

hi as I said I can't get to the bios, until windows gets to the loading of the usb keyboard-well after any chance of getting into the bios, as the onboard keyboard is dead along with touchpad and the sound chip, and the onboard usb ports! do you know of any windows tools, that will let me change bios settings? the acer has one, but it is limited, I can change boot order and set a bios password only, I was able to update the bios with a windows program from acer-thats it! and this thing runs awesome with my work arounds, and have added all external things to replace the ones that don't work! thanks for the responce, but that will not work with this deal, as I can't get to bios to see if usb keyboard support is available.

My laptop touchpad is not working dell inspiron n5010

you will have to reinstall the drivers and the sofware in your Dell. I think since the touch pad is not working if you use the cursor keys and proceed to the control panel and try to restore the laptop, then if this will reset to an earlier date, then it will solve the issue.
try this out and check to reinstall drivers. hope this helps. Good day

Touchpad on Toshiba WIreless Keyboard PA3705D does not work. Help

I have the Toshiba PA3705D-1ET1 keyboard.
I experienced the same thing: keyboard working, but not the touchpad. I reinstalled all drivers that I could think off, but nothing helped. What actually did work for me was: remove the batteries of the keyboard for 10 seconds, then put them back in (while PC is turned on). Also ensure that the batteries are full and that you are in range of your PC (let's say less than 4 meters).

Dead keyboard and touchpad at login prompt

Try downloading ubuntu linux live cd. You can boot directly into linux without installing it. See if your keyboard and touchpad work in there. If not then it is a hardware problem. If it does work you may want to consider backing up your files and reinstalling windows.

My computer tayping rong words

Hi

Check the device status in the device manager.
Please check if the keyboard and touchpad are listed correctly without any yellow exclamation marks.

But you should try to reinstall the drivers again even though the keyboard and the touchpad were recognized properly.
In this case I would recommend removing the keyboard and the touchpad from the device manager and then you should reboot the notebook once again.

After Vista has rebooted the both devices should be recognized again and should work. To find the drivers try asking the online chat at toshiba for the driver if its not listed in the driver download page.

Mouse or touchpad not working

Hi,

add an external mouse/keyboard to fix the onboard fault.
check the device manager for any yellow exclamation marks. as there may be a faulty or corrupt. keyboard/mouse touchpad driver.
other option, is to add remove touchpad drivers, and re-install.
finally, you could check if the settings are correct in the bios.

Thankyou For Using Fixya.

Keyboard + toucpad freezes

Might seem ovious but you may want to try Acer support and look for a new Driver.. Also check under Control Panel...Mouse options... and also check device profiles to make sure windows isn't loading a "docked profile which may disable touchpad and laptop keybaord use.

Acer Aspire 3004 keyboard and touchpad error

Just resolved same problem on Acer Aspire 5000 by removing the battery, then goto device manager and disable "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" you can then put your existing battery back into the latop with any problems with the keyboard and touchpad. Mad solution I know but it worked for me

Keyboard/touchpad freezes when the battery is plugged!!

I SOLVE THIS ISSUE 100% WORKING
THE MAIN PROBLEM IS ON THE CONTACT BETWEEN THE BATTERY WIRES AND LAPTOP
IF YOU MOVE THE BATTERY IT WILL WORK SO SURE THE PROBLEM WITH THE LINK BETWEEN THE BATTERY AND THE LAPTOP
SOLUTION : TO MOVE THE IRON OUT OF THE LAPTOP TO THE RIGHT TILT THEM TO RIGHT SIDE A LITTLE BECAUSE THE BATTERY WIRES IS TO THE RIGHT SIDE (WATCH THEM) NOT IN THE MIDDLE AND AFTER THAT PUT A STICK ON THE BATTERY TIGHTED IN ITS PLACE SO IT WILL NOT MOVE ITS NOT FREEZING NOW THANKS
