5400 is an internal temperature error, the manual says it can be a problem on the carriage assembly where the printhead is, or a bad main logic board. It's definitely out of warranty and repairs could be expensive. I would verify that at 1-800-828-4040, Canon customer service, and check their Canon loyalty offer to sell you a new printer at a discount price. Other than letting it rest a while and trying again, There isn't anything that you can do to make it run again or limp along, pretty much a fatal error.

I have canon MP510 printer 4 years old not over used. Was ok earlier in the day, now green and yellow lights flashing and paper feed light not lit. shows B200 error message. should I just buy a new...

The error B200 is an internal overheat error. It is usually associated with an overheating print head. The fault can be with the print head, carriage or even the logic board. You will not be able to locate the trouble unless those 3 items are replaced in that sequence. in other words SCRAP it as the costs will be enormous.

Error code 5400

This error related to the internal temperature being out of normal range. If the printer has been used for high volume printing recently then simply unplug it and let it cool down.
If this does not help then replacing the printer is much cheaper than a repair job!.
I hope this helps

Hello thanks for using fixya
To solve error 5400 First try this:
To clear an error, power off the printer and power it back on. Before powering back on the printer, wait five to ten minutes. Error 5400

5400 is an internal temperature error that usually shows up when the main logic board goes bad. The price to replace it is probably more than a new printer.

Error code

Hi Jakabi. That error code means there's a defective module in the printer. It's not user replaceable, unfortunately. The only solution is to contact the store where you bought it, or Canon's tech support to get a replacement. That comes directly from Canon support ! I know it isn't what you'd like to hear, but unfortunately it's the only way out of it. Thanks ! cheebster.
