You need to remove the front or the rear cover. If it is the front, then you need to know what model in order to know how to open it, but usually there are 3 ways: the top may have clips thqt hold it to thefront lid and you need a stiff putty knife to press between the front and top and release the two. Or, the front has 2 screws at the bottom and you swing the front panel out , Or you go thru the back and undo about 12 or so screws and then remove an inner brace that holds the drum in place.Once you have the belt around the drum , you need to feed it through the idler pulley but the pulley must be moved with pressure (Tension) so it is very close to the motor shaft pulley in order to connect the belt to the shaft. Dryer turns on but drum won't turn

Remove the top to see if the belt is intact. If it is, you will need to replace the motor. Here is the motor to order. If the belt is broke, here is the belt to order.

The part comes with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.

My kenmore 87872800 dryer wont spin. everything else is working but drum wont spin.

Left the top of the dryer top, check to see if the belt isn't broke or loose, if that is in tact try turning the drum by hand to see if it turns easily. if not, the bearing in the back of the drum needs replaced. this is easy to replace, remove the drum by removing the dryer top and then remove the belt, and the drum slides up out of the machine. replace the bearing then reassemble dryer.

The drum on our Neptune Dryer has stopped turning. It still heats up, but the drum just won't turn.

If the heater and blower work then th eprblem is with the drum turning system
This includes the motor ( which we will presume works because the blower does),the belt (Item #25 in the Cylinder, heater and bulhead diagram) and a spring and idler pully (Items 20 and 21 in the Base, Motor, and blower diagram)
Most likely problem is the spring broke releasing tension that halds the belt to the motor pully and drum. Second most likely is the belt has stretched.
You need to open the unit to determine where the problem lies.
Here are diagrams and parts listing for that machine.
Good luck!

The dryer is plugged in and the circuts seem to work however the dryer is making a humming noise but it will not turn on fully.

what do you mean it won't fully turn on?do you mean the motor won't run because usually when it humms you either have a bad motor or something is jammed and stopped the motor from spinning.try this, open the door, with one hand hold the door switch in and with the other hand spin the drum, have someone else push the start button while you do this,if it starts the motor is bad,if you can't spin the drum something could be stuck in the blower wheel or the belt broke and could of jammed up the motor but it sounds like you have a bad motor.let me know what you find and next time send the brand name and model number.

Drum wont turn. Motor and blower run.

sounds like you broke a drive belt, remove the dryer shell and you should find the broken belt pretty easily you can also replace it yourself it is a relatively easy job......HAVE FUN ........YOU CAN DO IT!!!

MDE5500AYW Drum belt

I dont think you broke the belt, I think it may have just come off the belt tensioner. Take the bottom of the back panel off and I think you will see it hanging in there. Just put er back on.
