Question about Carrier Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

My Carrier thermostat (installed in 2001) doesn't bring the temp up to the set temp (within a couple degrees)...66, not 68. Should I plug the hole in the wall, to protect from drafts that might affect the sensor?

That seem to be a problem of the air leaks, poor insulation of the building. the obstruction of the heat exchanger.
If it is forced hot air. It could also be that the ducts need insulation too.

We set it at a temreture of 70 degrees but it wont go of when it gets really warm in my house does that mean that the termostat is old or what ????

Does the temp on the thermostat ever get to 70? As long as its at least 2 degrees below it will keep running, until it gets to the value you set. To test place a thermometer on top of the stat and compare the temp to its readout, if its still accurate it should be within 2 degrees of the reading. Keep in mind the location of the stat affects it (away from drafts, etc.) as well as making sure its vent holes are clean and clear, has good batteries and the area around it has nice unobstructed air flow.

Pilot and burner light then gas shut off model 7900

How many degrees before it reaches desired temp, does it shut off? A thermostat is designed to shut the furnace off a couple/ few degrees before it reaches set temp. It has what is called a heat anticipater, which shuts the burner down, and lets the blower use the remaining heat from the heat exchanger to bring it up to desired temp making it more efficient. If it is more than a few degrees, replace the thermostat. You can jump out the red and white wires to confirm the faulty thermostat. If by doing this, the furnace never shuts down, until you separate the red and white wires. That confirms a faulty thermostat. Hope this helps someone.

Trying to set temp on honeywell t-stat

I believe what your experiencing is the 75 degrees is the hold temp position...the display then reverts back to the actual room temperature...it doesn't mean the set temperature changed back to 65 degrees. Try to reprogram the thermostat schedules, and try not to use the hold function...just the temporary hold. (which is bumping the programmed temperature up or down until the next programmed period)

My sons bike is running at 100 degrees. Bike overheats within 3km of riding. Have checked for leaks and had to replace water/2 stroke tank as had a hole in. Have checked thermostat as well and works...

The bike should be running at 180 to 190 degrees. It would be impossible for your bike to be running at 100 degrees. Your body temp is 98.6 degrees. Engines are designed to run at higher temps for better combustion.

Temp cycle span from on to off is 32 and 33 degrees respectvly

Obviously the thermostat calibration is out, most manufactures allow a tolerance of + or- 10%, so yours is outside this range.
You can compensate by setting the temperature lower by say 20 degrees, this will then bring it within accepted tolerances.
Hope this helps you.

Verify 24 volts at the low voltage transformer inside the air handler. If it is OK, jump out the red/green and yellow thermostat wires. If everything comes on, replace the thermostat.
