I connected my Memorex model STS71E-R dvd player to a RCA model 20F420T tv using the same RCA cable that was used when connecting the dvd player to my VISIO model VW32LHDTV40A tv. Perfect color, only black and white on the VISIO tv. You mention menu, what menu? Is there a different cable for VISIO? The dvd player does not have HDMI DTV capability. Any suggestions? Please be specific. Thank you.

Any number of problems can cause no color. For example, a very dirty video head, a defective head or even mechanical misalignment to name a few. Try using a wet type head cleaner, they seem to work better for excessive dirt on the video heads which is usually the problem with no color and is the easiest to fix.

Let me know how this works out for you.

    Is it a new player?

Usually it is a S-Video cable that is bad or loose or a PAL/NTSC (video type) problem, which the second can be fixed in the menu usually.

If it isn't a VCR, then it doesn't have heads. Like I said in my previous post, it is either a video cable or the format that the player is reading is off. PAL and NTSC are two different formats depending on where in the world you are.

You also did not answer my previous two questions which would help me help you.

Alright, yes that helps, thank you.

Now have you tried connecting the player with a new set of cables at all? Try doing this then if you haven't. You can get new cables from a local tv or electronics store.

Also are there any other players or anything else connected to this tv that are having the same problem? Have you tried checking the menu on the tv and dvd player for possible settings that may have been switched in the video format sections?

I'm just saying to try a different RCA cable to see if that is the problem. Otherwise you may also just want to reset both the tv and the dvd player or check the menu on both of them to see what type of video format that they are set to.

If you have multiple inputs that you can try to connect the cable to on the tv that is showing up black and white, try that first. Otherwise your tv either has a bad tuner/converter for the input you are on OR you can go into the menu of that tv and see if the video input format can be changed or set to AUTO. Let me know what you find.

After the dvd plays for like 10-15 minutes(when dvd player warms up?) all the colors on the screen turn to black, yellow and purple for the rest of the movie. What's wrong?

I gotta know more clearly about your question, i am going to explain in 'Guide Solutions'
Guide 1: Is it the color just cover the main grid? (Color cover like blocking the others, such as watching 70s TV shows, the colors blocked in black and white.)
Source 1: Audio input problems, your dvd audio input linked with three different 'rops', they are appeared to be push by pressure.
Solution 1: Determine more spaces to them!
Guide 2: Is it the color cover the photon grid? (Color cover at all pictures, each of them doesn't stand the other colors instead of replaced by unique color)
Source 2: Undefined
Solution 2: The TV setting menu seems to b set by specific colors, change it on your own using remote. OR this is a specific part that the DVD need to show the color in unique color (only one)
(No problems, keep watching)!

I am trying to hook up the mvd2016 to a visio tv that is hooked to our cable converter box. I hooked it up, i have the tv but no sound.

your RCA jacks from the DVD player....should be connected to the Vizio a/v 1 in the back of TV (yellow to yellow, red & white to red & white)... now to view using the remote to TV switch to a/v (play a DVD, you should now have a picture and sound)

ok it should all go into your tv ok? and there should be a row of yellow white red or any order (ON THE FRONT). you should look on the back of your tv or side for alot rows of inputs and each row should be for an different input on your tv like input 1 2 3 4 5 6? you follow? so just match the colors up on the back or side of your tv or front do not hook it up to your cable box..........Ahh i see the cable box is using the yellow one well maybe unplug that while your playing or there would prolly be other (RED WHITE YELLOW) on the back of your tv like i said or on the side

Check the region and picture settings on the home theatre's dvd player, it could be set to put out a component signal, or it could be set to a PAL region rather than NTSC
