Thank you, how can I easily get to the ink pad to clean it?

  • info73677 Jan 31, 2010

Hello again, what do you recommed to use to clean it?

    Thanks, Paula

  • info73677 Jan 31, 2010

Hello again, I can see them but I don't want to damage them trying to get them out. They are behind a cover and although I can reach them, I am unable to see how they come out.

  • info73677 Jan 31, 2010

    Thank you,

Do you know how they come out? Do they snap in? Is there a side I should pull up from? Is there a way to get closer to them so I can see how they come out?

  • info73677 Jan 31, 2010

I took out and cleaned the pad, now I am trying to follow your initial instructions on how to reset the machine and the power will not come on with the Stop/Reset button pushed. This is line 1 of your instructions. I feel I am almost there...

  • info73677 Feb 01, 2010

Wow, that one worked. You are really fast at responding. I started to worry but that last one did it. The only thing that differed from what happened is that it did not restart on it's own. When we started it again the error was about ink...yea!!! We tried the copier and it worked GREAT!!!

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described you’ll need to clean the Ink Pads out first that are located inside the printer on far right where the print head rests. After this is done you need to reset the printer by following:

1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in orange and green, starting with orange.)note: press 4 times for waste ink counter reset.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Thanks for your reply Paula. To get to the pads you'll need to open the front cover of the unit and they are located inside the printer on far right where the print head rests. Once the print heads are out just wash them with hot water and dont place them back till the time they dry out. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

You can then just take them out and replace them, or else the other way would be buy a new printer which I hope you wont want. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

Thanks for your reply Paula. Kindly refer to these instructions instead of the old one:

1)With the Printer on, press Additional Functions, Scan, Copy, Scan
Now you should be in service mode from there for waste ink tank reset

2)Select Test mode which is like the last avalabe selection
3)Select #8 Printer Test, it will do something here like cleaning or something then it will come up with some other option this is where it gets a bit confusing cause now all it says is like 8-2 or 8-3 push the + or - button until it says 8-3 then hit the select button

The menu will now say EEPRON Clear
Select Ink count which is option (0) and press set

Then press Stop/Reset Followed by the power button and then wait for it to restart. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks
    Rylee

Stopped printing after 'waste ink full message' how to I fix it.

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink full" error.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you. Once they are replaced, it'll be functional again.

Where is a waste ink i have error message says WASTE INK NEAR FULL help me on that, thanks

I have had this problem. There is a counter in your printer that must be reset to move on. The ink tank may not be full, but the counter estimates it is full (and maybe it is an instruction to you to buy a new Canon printer), and to actually empty the ink tank would be an uneconomical task. How do you do it, there are a number of helpers here so Google: MP730 waste ink near full.

Waste ink near full error

Canon's a little shady when it comes to this, since any waste ink pad I've seen never has been more than 30-40% full. You can reset that status without cleaning the waste ink out and the printer should return to normal.

1) On the printer, press Additional Functions, Scan, Copy, Scan. This will put you in service mode.

2) Select Test mode at the bottom

3) Select #8 Printer Test, wait for more options. It should say 8-2 or 8-3; push the + or - button until it says 8-3 then hit Select. The menu will now say EEPRON Clear

4) Select Ink count which is option (0) and press set

5) Press Stop/Reset, then the power button and wait for it to restart.

I hope this helps!
