Question about HP Officejet Pro L7680 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

My feed tray on top of the printer will not pull papers into it. It whirs and makes noises, but usually won't pull paper in. It trys for a while and then tells me to reload. If I mess around with it a little an pop the cover up and down it will eventually work, but most times won't do so consistently. I suspect the little roller is not coming down to contact the paper, but am not sure. Help?

Many times the rollers are just glazed and you can clean the feed rollers with a little alcohol on a towel, other times the swing gear assembly in the back is not engaging the drive gears. You should also look down the throat where the paper goes and make sure a paper clip isn't lodged in there stopping the paper. You can see the roller assembly when it runs to see if it comes down, there's also a flap inside that has to pull up to allow the paper to advance. I would try cleaning the feed roller first.

Will not feed paper. Can print with manual feed in center of printer, but will not pick up paper in tray. It tries three times and can hear the motors whirring, but then stops trying and the attention...

When you look into the tray with the flashlight, you say the top rollers are spinning, are they touching the paper?
Pull open the tray and while you look from the back with the light, close the tray and see if the paper is being lifted to meet that top roller. Take out all the paper and watch it again. Make sure that the platform that the paper sits on in the tray is free to move up. Sounds like it is jammed.
Also check that roller that isn't spinning. Try to GENTLY rotate it with your fingers. If it does rotate, replace the tray. If the paper in the tray doesn't lift, replace the tray.

depends on the printer, normal home use printer have only 1 tray.
office printer usually have multiple trys. and usually the default for that is tray 2. tray 1 is manual feed.

Canon PC920 paper feed "clacking" & not working.

check the tray and make sure the guides are set correctly, clacking sound is usually because the tray is set for Legal and has Letter, the paper is towards the bac of the tray and the pick up assembly is making the noise,
otherwise the tray is either not going up (broken gear, )

Paper not feeding

Is this a top feed - that is paper loaded on top at the back bottom feed from a tray underneath? Top feed take one sheet of paper and gently push it down whilst the printer is trying to grab it. Tray feed - take tray out make sure no paper fragments are in the tracks and find a nail board and gently abrade the pick up rollers.
