Sounds like you need to clean the lens on your PS2. The best solution is to find a DVD player lens cleaner from a local electronics store (make sure it is a good quality one, don't buy the cheapest one) and put it into your PS2 disc tray. It will play the disc using the DVD player on the PS2. Make sure you follow the directions for the lens cleaner very carefully, as you don't want to accidentally scratch your lens.

That should help with the reading issues. Good luck!

Disk read error, turn console on goes to system configuration press x goes to mem card and says reading disk then says disk read error

This is a result of one of two things-

1) Your disc is dirty, damaged, or scratched. To fix this just clean it gently with a wet cloth, if it still doesnt work you can take it to a game store to have it cleaned there. It is possible that it is scratched to much and is unable to read at all.

2) Your Playstation 2's reading laser has become damaged or dirty. I suggest blowing air through the system with your mouth or preferably a can of compressed air which can be purchase at most retail stores.

This error seems most likely to be a disc issue.

Its not reading the disk. It does show the Playstation 2 appear after that I get a black screen.

Is the disc scratched? If not the it sounds like an issue with the PS2 itself and if that is the case the only thing you can really do about that is to buy a new PS2. Sorry I couldn't give better news. I hope this helps!

I put a scratched video game into my ps2 slim and it kept on reading the disc but the game never started it just kept on reading the disk.at the same time my ps2 is making a clicking sound.how can i fix...

Undortunately, if the disk is scratched, there is not much you can do, other than buy a new disk. Lots of video game/DVD rental stores have disk repair machines, so you could try and take your disk there to see if that helps.

PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console: not reading disk...

Playstation 2's are very sensitive to outside elements that get in it, such as dust or dirt, I suggest you clean your lens with some canned air, Personally I disassemble mine and clean every inch of mine using canned air, Q-tips, rubbing alcohol or purer, and WD-40 to lubericate the bearings and plays like I bought it yesterday. Hopefully these will answer your questions if your playstation 2 has never suffered damage by any blows or impacts.

My console is really messed up it either doesn't read the game,or it reads the game and it has and error loading. But every once in a while the game works but it freezes while im playing.

Sounds like either a scratched disk or a broken lens. If the disk is scratched you need to purchase a new copy. If its not, then call Sony and you can send it in for a repair

DVD freezes when playing on a Sony SLV D300P DVD/VCR

That particular unit is very sensitive to scratched or dirty disks. Remove the disk and make sure there are no finger prints, peanut butter & jelly, or popcorn butter stains on the back side. If there is, gently wash the disk under warm water with a DROP of mild dish detergent, being careful not to scratch the surface. Rinse the disk well and dry with a soft, lint free cloth (like an old cotton t-shirt) again being careful to avoid scratching the disk. Replace the disk and play.

If the disk is scratched, there is little hope of fixing the scratch so the unit can read it.....

Playstation 3 laser problems

Is your disk scratched? If the laser was damaged or dirty it probably wouldn't read the disk at all. If your disk is too scratched to play you can buy a tool that will buff out the scratches at a place like Best Buy.
