If you use windows when you insert the sd card into a reader it should recognise it and launch options to view, copy pictures etc. If that doesn't happen open 'My Computer' and the sd card should be listed there under devices with removable storage>double click it and you should find a folder with your pictures>highlight and copy. Hope this helps!

How to Unlock SD Card

Many times people do not realize that a SD card can be write protected or locked. They will try to download pictures or make changes to the pictures and the SD card will not allow them to do it. The little lock feature on the side of the card will write protect the SD card so that changes cannot be made. You will need to unlock the SD card to be able to make the changes that you want to make or download anything from it.

To allow the SD card to be accessed is a simple as sliding a small tab on the side of the card to the unlocked position. Usually this means sliding the tab towards the back of the card and away from the front of the card. The card will have to be removed from the camera or PC to be able to do this.

Here is a picture of an SD Card and you can see the tab on the side of the card. It clearly shows you what is the locked and unlocked positions on the card.

This feature can be very useful to make sure that you do not inadvertently erase data or pictures from the card. If you have children viewing pictures on the SD Card make sure to lock it before allowing them to play around to make sure that they do not erase your pictures.

As you can see this is a very good feature to have and it will be very useful to you, but you do need to remember to unlock it before trying to make changes to the card.
How do I download pictures from a SD card to my computer?

With the SD card plugged into the computer, go to "My Computer" if XP, "Computer" if Windows Vista or 7, or "This PC" if Windows 8.

You should see the SD Card listed as a drive with a letter like D: or E:, double click it, then look for your pictures on the SD Card, hint - they may be under a folder called DCIM.

Once you find your pictures, highlight them and right click, choose copy, then click "Pictures" on the left side in the folder tree, and right click the space to the right where your pictures are located. Click paste.

That should put your pictures into your "My Pictures" folder.

How do I recover pictures back to my power shot sd card

If your computer has a built in card reader you can put any photo back on the card from your computer by dragging and dropping the file to the drive letter that is your SD card. If you're trying to recover lost photos from a SD card Google "card recovery pro". It's a free program that will read your SD card and restore as many photo's as it can.

pictures should already be loaded to SD card... if not, you probably need to format SD card and then try again. I've had issues with SD cards going from laptop to Tab 3 but my pics taken with my camera always load to SD card. Now pictures I have downloaded from the internet I can open up in my Gallery, tap the picture and then hit settings and move to SD card

Unable to download pictures into computer, asking for an"A disk

Hello,

1. Last question first :No, there is no need to format all SD cards every time.

2. Sometimes this happens. I mean sometimes there is a need to format the SD card. Because , may be you use it for other purpose with other electronic items. But if you use it for only taking pictures with your camera then there is no need to format it. When you use it with other instruments then it is better to format the card.

3. You should use one recovery programs to save your pictures. After that you format your card, use it normally as you do before.

You can either use a separate card reader to download to your computer, or , take the card to a Walmart store and insert the card into a Kodak Picture Kiosk machine and print the pics or make a cd of them. Then, format the card in the camera.

Upload images to SD card

I just purchased a frame and wondered the same thing. My computer has a slot for an SD card once inserted the computer shows the SD file. Then go into where you store the pictures highlight the picture one at a time in the picture file my program says copy to file click on it and shows the SD file as F file click copyit then downloads to the card. Done put SD card in frame worked perfectly.
