Do you have any details on what the error was? If it was a 001 read error, or something related, where you often get a green or blue screen, you simply need to FIRST eject the disc by pressing the eject button, then hold the power button down for about 5 seconds and your Wii will shut down.

Try the following. kindly update result here in comments

Depending on the model number of your DVD player, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons.

If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons.
NOTE: This step may not apply to all models as DISC1 is not available on all DVD players.

If this does not work and if the DVD player has DISPLAY and PREV buttons, press and hold the DISPLAY+PREV buttons for two seconds to unlock the drawer.

What is the model number of your DVD player? You may try power resetting the unit and check if it helps. To power reset, turn OFF the DVD player and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and turn the player ON. My BD300 which is just over a year old has stopped reading DVDs. It displays 'Reading' then 'Disc Error' and ejects them It still plays Blu ray

Hello
Just reset the player to its original factory settings and try. If the BIOS ic has confused with so many external commands, this type of problem will occur. By reset it to factory settings will clear the BIOS. To reset do the following.

Press and hold the POWER button for more than

five seconds. This will force the Player to power

off. Press the POWER button again to turn the
Player back on.

Unplug the power cord and then plug the power
cord again after more than five seconds
OK.

Disconnect the power to the unit; perhaps pulling the radio fuse out - in the fusebox. Then put the fuse back in because you've got to reset the error.
