Question about Panasonic NN-T993SF Microwave Oven

1 Answer

No power, oven is completely dead. On the day the oven quit I dropped my can opener on the ovens power cord coming out of the wall. This has happened several times before over the years because of the layout of my kitchen. The ovens power cord shows no external signs of damage and it is such a heavy cord that perhaps the timing of its death is only a coincidence. Is there a fuse or circuit breaker inside? How should I go about testing and repairing this appliance?

GE oven is completely unresponsive but I have power to the plug that goes to the board. I see no obvious signs of damage, no burnt anything, not even a smell of burnt stuff.

Hi, Did you check the fuses on the stove. If it was built before and after model year 2000 there still should be fuses. If your stove is still under warrenty you may be able to get it fixxed for free. Good luck.

My countertop microwave stopped working. What was the problem? Can you help?

If it is completely dead, no light, motor or keypad, it's probally a blown line fuse. Open up the cabinet and you should be able to find a fuse near the power cord. An appliance supply house should be able to get you a replacement.

GE Microwave - Power Cord Appears to be Dead

Most microwave ovens are equipped with an internal fuse. This is typically located where the power cord enters the cabinet. The cabinet will have to be opened to verify the fuse.

The magnetron is not directly attached to the power source, it has to be stepped up in voltage significantly, either through a transformer or inverter.

It is usually best to have professional tech check the fuse for operation. Most shops will do this for a small fee if you drop the unit off yourself.

My microwave doesnt work at all

If the micro is completly dead and the outlet is OK... check the main fuse inside the cover. Unplug unit, remove cover (screws in back) and check the fuse where the power cord comes in through the back.

I am not sure what region you are in but in the States it is usually a 15A fuse. REPLACE ONLY WITH EXACT FUSE. Most hardware stores have these for microwaves.
