Had a house fire. Ceiling fans covered in soot. Can they be saved?

The fans would have to be disassembled to clean inside the motor housing and soot may have gotten inside the motor itself. Saving them is not practical.

Dismantling my dryer

Great detailed directions on disassembling the LG Dryers on You-Tube. Much more helpful and accurate than a narrative from me.
Also, you can run the dryer with it partially disassembled to observe what is happening and to troubleshoot the problem.

An item is stuck under the lint holder

WOW! I am afraid you are going to have to remove the front panel of the dryer and disassemble the tube that runs to the fan. If you try running the dryer with the pacifier in there and it gets sucked into the fan you could be looking at a large repair bill to replace the fan.

Dropped a clothes pin down the shoot of the dryer filter vent and now it made a noise when I turned the dryer on, turned it off.

hello. It probably ended up right in the blower wheel. It will make a heckuva racket when things get caught in there. Like a straw in a fan. I will post a few links that will help you recover the problem.

hope that helps you. Thanks for your time.

Maytag Bravos dryer Model # MEDB850WQ0 Just gave my right arm to gave a service technician put my slipped fan belt back on my dryer. He wouldn't show me how to disassemble the unit if it happens...

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.Use a putty knife to push in the lock tabs just under the lid or top in each corner push in firm and lift the top. When the top is open there are two screws one on each side holding the front on remove and lift the whole front. That's it....And if its the blower belt that comes off we are suppose to put locktite on the pulley to stop that from happening..
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

Not Drying, getting heat both it takes about 3 cycles to dry a normal load.

Since Its heating, you should check the outlet hose and vent for obstructions. If that is clear check to see if air is blowing out of the dryer at the hose connection. If no air is blowing out, the fan blades on the dryer may be broken or just clogged up. You may have to remove the back cover and disassemble the lint trap and duct-work inside the dryer to clean thoroughly. You can go to this site www.appliancepartspros.com type in your model number and they will have schematic diagrams to help aid in doing this.

I have Whirlpool Duet Dryer that has a noise.

It is common for small items (such as coins) to get stuck inside the dryer drum baffles. You can easily remove them without disassembling the entire dryer. The screws that hold them in place are located on the outside of the dryer drum. In order to access, follow these steps:

1. Unplug the dryer.
2. Remove the top panel of the dryer by removing the three screws located in the back of the dryer holding the panel in place. Once the screws are removed, the top panel slides back, then lifts off.

Each drum baffle has two screws holding it in place. Remove the screws and the baffle will drop into the drum allowing you to easily check inside each one.

Another source of dryer noise is something caught in the blower fan housing. You will need to remove the lower toe panel directly below the dryer door to access. Follow these steps:

1. Open the dryer door and remove the lint screen (the blower fan cover will not come off with the lint screen in place).
2. Locate the screws that hold the toe panel in place along the bottom front edge of the panel. HINT: Propping the front feet of the dryer up can give you better access to reach the screws (a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed the toe panel will drop down, then come off.
3. Remove the screws that hold the blower fan cover in place.

Inspect the blower fan housing for any objects that may be vibrating against the fan blades.

If you still need further assistance, please let me know. I hope you find this helpful.

Dryer runs for about 5 minutes and shuts off.

You may have a faulty motor winding or run capacitor. If the motor wind is shorted it will get hot and the thermal cutout goes open circuit (inside motor)and it starts again when cool. Also check that the air flow is OK eg Some models have a separate fan belt.Hope this helps.Cheers.
