Thanks, the problem is with a Samsung 5.1 channel Blu-ray Home Theater system.I already took one back and exchanger it and the second is doing the same thing. Is it a common problem with this model HY-BD1150?

I cut the wires to splice into my speaker wires which are under the carpet si I can't really return the whole unit.Do you think it might help to do a software upgrade.I know it sounds like defect in the unit but two of them? Thanks Donald

Hi,

One reason is that it may also be having a bad circuit inside the unit.

I cannot advice you to open the unit , cause it would void the

warranty on it.

Best if you could give a call on the dealer or visit the manufacturer

site.

On the location of the unit, try the following:

a ) Try having the unit plugged to a different known convenient outlet.

b ) check the cables double check if it is connected properly.

c ) Try other sources of input , say if you are having problem

watching TV program , then try video instead or vice versa.

d ) Some units needs to be unplugged for several minutes if prot

happens, try it,

If you need more information about your TV , post the Model

brand and chassis number, Include the things you have done

to remedy the cause.

Let me know, if you needed further assistance.

Thank you for choosing FixYa for assistance. I hope that my

information proves useful to you. If so, please take a moment

to provide me with a positive rating. I'd really appreciate it.

Regards,

palaboy

I do not have all the data before i have my conclusion,

a ) if the wires used before is the same you are using right now ,

here is you need to do:

1 ) check your speaker wiring ( especially the joint , if you have extended the speaker wire , it must

    not be shorted. )

2 ) then returned the unit again without the speaker wire.( unit might have been bad due to speaker

    wiring ) .

b ) if the speaker wire used is new

the unit might have been bad due to speaker wiring.

Prot doesn't have to do with the update,

Update only if necessary , like when other sources don't work on your unit.

In your case , nothing will work , even an update wont help, remove the bad components

and it will work, only with was left. ( meaning if the right amp is busted , you will not have a sound on

it , unless you replace the bad component with a new one ) But ...a system reset if there is available

Of which i don't have info for the moment..

Having an 166 watt per channel output is very critical to speaker wiring.

My Lenovo Yoga tab 3 keeps shutting off and going back to the locked homescreen. It does it all the time, i cant really do anything on it w/o it shutting off. Any awnser?

Does it shut down, then restart? Or does it go back to locked screen but stays powered up?

If it shuts down, the processor could be over-heating. This means cooling fan might be broken or running too slow.
If it just restarts, then check your settings in the 'power-saving' section, assuming your're on Windows OS.

SYSTEM SHOWS ERROR CODE PROT AND SHUTS DOWN

Check the impedance (resistance) on all the speakers and the speaker wires themselves.
Power up the unit with no speakers or inputs attached at minimum volume and see if it still goes into protection mode.
Most speakers should measure between 4 and 8 ohms for most systems when disconnected from the receiver.
If the unit says PROT even with no inputs at minimum volume with the speakers detached, then there's a problem with the amplifier itself, probably in the output section.

Our TV keeps shutting it self off intermittenly. Sometimes it will stay on for hours, other times it shuts itself off every few min then will run again for hours. We are selling the TV, but would like to...

My Samsung big screen showed the same symptoms. It ended up being two $5 resisters that burned out a very short time after purchase. My extended warranty took care of it but it took several service calls and the end solution was to replace the entire light engine.

Most of the time heat is the cause for shut down. Check the vents which allow air to circulate thru the set, also be sure the fan is working.

The first thing a repair man will do is replace the bulb. If you can do it yourself you can save some $$.

My advice is to find a good TV guy. One who's been around for a while. Sorry couldn't be more help. Good Luck!

When I put on my DVD player, it says "hello, DVD, LOAD, PROT" and turns off...

I assume "PROT" means some sort of protection mode. I would check to see if any of your speaker wires are crossed at the speakers or the receiver. If not you may have shorted something internal.

HT-Z320 displays PROT code and then shuts down

i had the same problem a prot display then it would shut down. turns out i had the sub disconnected(noise complaint from the shaking at my apartment complex) but the speaker wires for the sub connected to the amp or central unit. when i disconnected the sub i left the wires on the floor behind the sub separating the pos. and neg. somehow the wires got moved around and the pos was touching the neg. as soon as i noticed and fixed this problem the system was working fine. my samsung hometheater model is HT-BD1250

All the settings should be visable..
