Possible fault with the program controller unit. Now if there is no power to the drain then it can be due to the controller and if there is power with no drain then it can be due to faulty drain motor or the drain valve beingg choked or clogged; click this link for tips: Drain valve cleaning
Sounds like something in pump. This is causing motor to hum and not turn. Motor is going off on thermal overload. This is why the humming stops. It may be possible for you to tilt washer back and access pump. Remove clip on bottom and top and pull pump off motor. Try and turn pump. Remove hoses and see if you can see obstruction.
