Hello. I appreciate the help, Mechanic. I have had the covers off and what I am seeing is some small circuit boards that also contain the on/off switch that I want to remove. I am not sure if I want to proceed any farther. Thanks, Bigloaderman.

Big, hi; I'll try to help out. I haven't had that model radio totally apart but on most radios, if you remove the top and bottom cover, on the sides you should see 2 screws per side that holds the chrome bezel to the chassis of the radio. Be careful removing the knobs so you don't destroy a pot in the process. Hope this helps you out, let us know,, Mechanic

I have a none amplified D104 G stand it came off my TRAM D201 IT has a two center leeds that's shielded I know this will work on my cobra 29LTD but I don't get it please help

First, you have to replace the cable as you will need a minimum of 4 wires, 2 of them for the transmit and receive switching, and a shielded cable for the audio. It would be nice to have another as the common for the TX/RX switching but the shield is commonly used for this.

You will need to re-wire the switch in the candlestick to allow switching from RX to TX.

Google "D104 to cobra 29 mic wiring" and you will find many hits for this.
Your microphone was not intended to work with this style of radio. To save a buck, the CB manufacturers removed a 50 cent relay to do the transmit/receive switching. You can see what happens when you remove the microphone when you are listening to the Cobra. It'll stop producing any sound. This won't happen with the Tram,

Also, you may have problems with the microphone as it is high impedance as indicated by no transformer or preamp in the base of the microphone. This may be a problem as the Cobra has a relatively low impedance input.

I keyed the mic on my galaxy 959 and nothing happened. transmit light didn't come on, needle didn't move, nothing happened. It's like the mic isn't plugged in. I replaced the mic, didn't help. ?????

You might have it flipped to SSB instead of AM on one of the front mounted switched. It's the switch right under the freq. counter.

The switch right above the volume needs to be in the power mode, and the GNF switch needs to be in the CB mode-not on PA.

How replace the on of switch

first of all you have to remove the knob the get a deep well socket that will fit it.remove the nuts and your switch should pop out to the inside of the unit. Now hold it in your hand and look at it. You have to replace the wires from the old switch to the new switch in the same manner they are attached now. Once this is done try it out out first to make sure it works then reinstall it the same way you took it out. Good luck

Hello johnson,
Welcome to FixYa. My name is John, and I will be assisting you with your issue today.
It does not have to be the same part number as the original one! I just fixed one
today with the same problem. If you have any old radio just laying around with an on/off
volume control in it, that will work just fine! Just make sure its not bigger knob wise.
You will probably have to remove the face plate to get to it. I some how worked around mine.
Just mark the wiring when you remove them, so you will know how to replace them. Easy job!
Hope this was helpful to you. Your Comments and Testimony's are always welcome here.
Thanks for choosing FixYa today and in the future.

I need to remove the wiper motor and replace it. The repair manual I am using is not very clear and without a picture of the connection of the wiper arms to the motor. Ford Ranger 1994 five sspeed 2w...

The wiper motor transition is not so hard to replace. First remove the wiper blades. Lift the hood to your truck. Towards the windshield their is a plate that covers the entire assembly. Remover the screws and or the push pins and remove the cover. Looking down in there you will see the arms hooked to the transition via a ball stud and socket. Take a pair of long nose needle nose pliers (don't use a screwdriver as it may bend the arm.) and pop the arm off at that point. Don't remove the nut on the wiper motor stud. Your motor is right there. Remove the four mounting bolts. Remove the connector. And wiggle it out. Let me know if this helps you.

I need to know what each knob and switch on front of radio should be set at. i know about the squelch setting and mic gain (at least i think I do) but not sure about all the other settings for your...

To use this radio on the CB band, you set the 10 Khz switch to OFF, and then turn the band switch to A/E.

Here is a Frequency Chart.

When the 10 Khz switch is on OFF, the band switch is E,F,G,H. When the 10 Khz switch is in the ON position, then the band switch is A,B,C,D.

So when you are on band E, which is when the 10 Khz is OFF, and the band switch is in the first position, it is on the E band.

I would get your self a Frequency counter. It makes using a radio like that much easier.

Hope this helps!

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me" again.

The initial posting would still hold true, best would be:
  • remove TR18;
  • replace 2SC2069 with 2SC1969; and
  • adjust L12, 13 & 14.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
