For that you need to enable DHCP on router.or set static ip in wireless network adapter tcp ip property.
You can enable DHCP with below method.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on DHCP and enable it then save settings and restart router then check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
Hi! your dlink dsl-604T is adsl router modem, you can access the setup page of your modem router by connecting your computer directly to the port1 of the modem router and the cable from your isp should be connected to the WAN port. u need to pull up the browser and type in at the url:192.168.1.1 and it will ask the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or leave it blank, but i suggest before u do this steps. u need to reset your modem/router. there is a reset button on the back of the router and press it for 20secs and then unplug and replug it after 10secs. after that u can pull up the setup page of the router.. to check the default gateway of the router, right click the network icon on the lower right of the task bar and select status and it will show the ip address, subnet and default gateway..
u need to know what internet settings u have with your internet provider, bcoz once u access the setup wizard it will ask u the type like auto-dhcp, pppoe, static etc.. if your isp gives u a username and pass to connect to internet u have to select pppoe or if u are given a static ip address setting u need to select static ip... just follow the setup wizard..
That means your router is not yet configured for internet access. If you are on DSL, your modem's IP and router's IP might be conflicting with each other. You need to change the router's IP address. If not, you can simply configure PPPoE settings on the router's admin page. If you can open the router's setup page, look for Internet Connection Type, choose PPPoE and provide the information that it asks you like username and password given by your DSL provider.
This should be connected as so. From wall outlet to DSL modem, from DSL modem to D-Link router, From D-Link router to Laptop via wireless or wired connection. You will still need the DSL modem installed but the wire coming from the DSL modem will go to uplink port on the router instead of into the laptop.
You do not need any software to install a router.
Connect your router to your cable/dsl modem, turn it on and then connect the router to your computer via ethernet cable.
Open a browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. This brings you
to the login page of your router. On older Linksys routers, the default
username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer routers
the default username and password for a are both "admin/admin."
