How do I attach the upholstery attachment to the Hoover Steam Vac F5910-900?
I Removed the cover off the waste water tank and removed the panel on the front of the waste water tank by sliding it straight out. I then tried to replace the panel with the connector by sliding it down but it did not slide down. It gets stuck 1/4 of the way down? Is there an adapter I am missing?

I assume you have a Hoover there. The hose only goes into the top of the tank. The opening of the hose is supposed to connect with the tank lid to deliver suction to the hose. I'm assuming that you think the hose is supposed to connect to the duct on the hood. The hose does not go down that far. I hope this is what you need to know. I am assuming alot here.

Easliy download the manual at Hoover.com.
The hose attached in the front of the unit on the clear front panel. Lift up the center cap and attached the hose. Then attache the supply hose to the side of steam vac for your solution.
I have the same problem with my hoover steam vac, different model but same problem. So I have had it for 2 years and never used the attachments because the thing leaked out the bottom when i tried. So today I tried to find a solution online and found nothing. So I started toying with the thing and found a solution for my model and I hope it will work for everyone else. I don't have a stair attachment so this goes for the upholstery cleaning attachment. I noticed right where my upholstery attachment connects to get soap, there is a second hole that is covered by a white rubber seal when the cover for the connection area is closed. I put a plastic bag, or anything to seal it, into this hole to make a tight seal. Tried the machine and worked like a champ. So Would be nice if hoover supplied a plug for that, but oh well worked for me hope it works for others with a hoover steam vac.

Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The attachment works on the suction from the Hoover Steam Vac and it’s either a straight suction tool or a revolving brush, check the front of the machine to see if the is a switch to turn on and odd, also before you attach the upholstery tool check the end of the hose for suction, it may be that your upholstery tool may be clogged or the brushes are not spinning and a part may be broken. Feel free to check with you local vac dealer or a new or a good used part if you find out what is wrong. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.hoover.comTelephone Contact our Customer Service Department at 1.330.499.9499 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. EST Don – The Vac Man Go Ahead.Use Us.
Don't listen to Solution #1, it is simply NOT correct. This is the correct answer:
As you stated, you already know where the water hose connection
is. It is under the easily visible port cover on the top of the
What is NOT easily visible is the connection for the vacuum hose.
That's because the machine needs to be "reconfigured" before the hose
can be attached. To "reconfigure" the machine:
1) Remove the cover off the waste water tank and notice how things appear--it will soon be important.
2) Find and remove the "panel" on the front of the waste water tank by sliding it straight up and out.
3) Replace the panel with the connector by sliding it straight
down. When finished the top should look something like it did in
step 1). This assures that the dirty water will be vacuumed into
the waste water tank.
