If the front panel lock is on, you will need a working original remote (or a universal remote properly programmed for RCA to turn your TV set on

Click on the link below to view the RCA 20F511T owners manual:

http://tv.rca.com/RCATV/Assets/pdfs/14F512T_1641309F_IB_e-06.pdf

Follow these steps to unlock the FPA:

Press MENU to see the main menu.
Press CH+ or CH- to highlight
Preferences.
Press OK to enter the Preferences
submenu.
Press CH+ or CH- to highlight FPA
(Front Panel) Lock.
Press VOL+ or VOL- to turn on or off
FPA Lock. Choose On to disable all the
buttons on the front of the TV. FPA Lock
On will appear on the TV screen each
time you press buttons on the front of
the TV. You can still operate the TV with
the remote control. You can still use the
POWER button on the front of the TV, but
only to turn off the TV (not on). Set FPA
Lock to Off to cancel this feature so you
can use the buttons on the front of the TV
again.
Press MENU repeatedly to exit the
menu or the menu will automatically
disappear within a few seconds if no
buttons are pressed on the remote
control.

Hi how to open fpa

The front panel lock can only be unlocked with the remote. Press Menu, then Ch+ or Ch - to select Preferences. Press Ok then use the Ch+ or Ch- buttons to highlight FPA (front panel) lock. Then use the Vol+ and Vol - buttons to select On or Off. Then press Menu repeatedly to exit the menu system. With the FPA lock disabled, you can turn it on from the front panel of the TV by pressing the Menu button. However, with the lock enabled, you can only power off the TV from the front panel.

Since the Input button is also only on the remote, if you look for a universal remote, choose one with both Menu and Input or Source functions. Then try all the RCA codes until you find one that makes all of the remote functions work. The original remote is: RCR130TA1 . A substitute remote that should match all of the functions is available here: http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=20F420T&uuid=13004957447460 .

The manual for the RCA 20F420T is available here: http://support.ttetech.com/RCATV/NewTV/Templates/SupportDownloads.aspx?NRMODE=Published&NRORIGINALURL=%2fen-us%2fproductdownloads.html&NRNODEGUID={35D79B02-4AAE-4834-BFD0-1124EA501FA2}&NRCACHEHINT=NoModifyGuest . If the direct link doesn't work, start here: http://support.ttetech.com/en-us/productdownloads.html . Select a 20" TV and then your model number in the drop down menus and press Go.

I hope this helps.

I enabled the FPA lock on my RCA 20f511T and it shut off. Now I can't turn it on with the panel on the TV or the remote.

Disconnect the power cord from the outlet for AT LEAST 30 MINUTES, that should cause the TV to reset back to factory default settings, then you can start over with initial set up,etc, after you restore power to it.
Good luck!

FPA LOCK ON

FPA means the front panel is locked by the Parental Access Control Menu.

Unfortunately, the FPA can only be removed using the remote. There are no magic front panel button combinations.

The cheapest way out is to buy a Universal Remote Control at Walmart (about $10) and program it to your RCA TV. Then you can go into the Parental Control Menu and remove the lock.

Hi,

FPA lock stands for Front Panel Access lock similar to Parental Control/Child lock - it indicates that the buttons on the front of the TV are locked so that it cannot be operated accidentally by young children.

You would need to use the remote to deactivate this security feature. Normally, you would go into the Parental Controls menu and turn off the FPA lock.

If for some reason a password was used, then you would have to enter that password since without it you can't get into the Parental Controls menu.

On some versions, you can press "Menu" on the front panel and "Vol -" on the remote simultaneously for 3 seconds to clear the password. in others, it would require that you press and hold at the same time the Vol < button on the front panel and CLEAR button of the remote control for about 5sec. You would need to enter a new password the next time you access the Parental Control Menu.

Usually, steps involve are explained better in the user's manual which is available at the RCA (Support) website. You would need to enter the exact model number of your RCA TV.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

RCA 27V412T FPA LOCK ON & REMOTE LOCK

If the front panel lock is on, you will need a working original remote (or a universal remote properly programmed for RCA) to turn the set on. The IR receiver is next to the buttons on the fromt but the RCA IR receivers are very reliable, and I have yet to see a bad one in a modern RCA TV. Once you turn the set on by remote, you can enter the menu and turn the FPA off.

FPA lock settings, No remote, can not power on TV

If you forget your password you can reset it. Make sure the TV is off. Simultaneously press and hold VOL< on the TV?s front panel and CLEAR on the remote for approximately 5 seconds. Enter a new password next time you access the PARENTAL CONTROL menu. Front Panel Lock 1. From the PARENTAL CONTROL menu, press the up or down arrow to highlight Lock Fr. Panel. 2. Press the right or left arrow to turn on (box has check mark) or off (box doesn?t have check mark) front panel lock. Of course if you don't have a remote that can bring up the menu I don't know how this can be done.

RCA FPA LOCK

Take the remote and turn the set on. With FPA (Front Panel Access, or Child Lock) on, the set will only turn on with the remote. Enter the menu, navigate to the page with FPA and set it to OFF.
