We are unable to find the spring in the output tray. There isn't anything hanging down or anything that appears to be able to hang down.

  • greenwald_me Jan 31, 2010

no there is no error number. It says "Error Paper output slot. The paper is
jammed. Clear the paper and press ok"

This is my first experience with FixYa. While i appreciate the effort, if
this is not fixed i cannot continue on with this service. Please help.

There is no paper anywhere - we removed the paper in the tray and I removed long ago the paper that was jammed but it still gives me the jam error message. It says "Paper Output Slot - the paper is jammed" but there isn't anything visible. Is there a way to open the printer further than just lifting the cover and machine?

Hi,

This is a Common Error Message on Most of the Canon Printers. I am sure you would have Checked and made sure that there is No Paper Jam.

Have you tried Unplugging the Unit for Few Minutes, Say 30 minutes and then give a shot. If not, try and check, if that could Fix the Problem.

The Next Step would be a Reset -

1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling
process before submitting another job request.

If the Problem Persists, you need to Send the Unit for Repair. To be really honest with you, more often it is Better to Invest in new rather than Fixing this One. You could have a broken roller on the Paper Input Side ( which is common with this Model ) or you could have a Bad Sensor. In Both Cases, Repair is not Recommended.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Please check the output tray and see it there s a finger (spring like looking hanging down.

If there is not one, look and see if you can find it jammed up against the top of the tray cover and release it. It should hang down. If it is jammed in the "Up" position it is reporting a paper full condition.

I'll take a look at the Canon website and see if I can find its location. Please bare with me and I get back here as soon as possible.

Also, it is possible that the flag for the sensor got broken off, in which case the printer will have to be serviced.

I went to the Canon site and searched their database and User's Guide manual but neither revealed the position of the p"Tray Full Sensor".

Is there an error message number associated with the message, maybe I can track it that way?

Well I actually do not believe this but Canon Support will not tell me where the paper full sensor is. They smply said the printer requires service.

I'll append the response below and I apologize for not being ble to assist you further.

    Don

    Dear Don:

We appreciate your continued correspondence regarding the output slot is

full error on your PIXMA MX700.

Unfortunately, based on your response, the unit will require service.

If the unit was purchased within a one-year period, you qualify for a

Warranty Exchange. Canon would send you a replacement unit via UPS

ground shipping. If the case is processed before 4pm (ET), the unit

will be shipped out the same day. If the case is processed after 4pm

(ET), the unit will not go out until the following business day.

That means the sensor flag under the platen roller is broken, bent, or jammed in the up position. Hard to see and must be taken apart to repair.
