Replacement of Convergence IC'S

Usually what happens is that the convergence IC goes bad or the fuse going to the convergence ic goes bad. Pico fuses they are called sometimes open up. You may want to open it up and pull the board out and check the solder connections on the convergence IC. Sometimes these get fractured or cold soldered and aren't making connection to the PC board.
Let me know if you feel comfortable with pulling TV chassis out or pulling the board that has the convergence IC on it out. Then you can resolder convergence IC OR replace it.First thing i would do is check to make sure there is between 22vdc and 25vdc on the fuse or the convergence IC. If the symptom can't be fix by convergence set-up from the tv through your remote control then the trouble is internal and it is caused by bad convergence board. The most commonly faulty parts in this board is the convergence chip/IC. Once replace by IC/Chip your unit will back to normal again. Also you have to check for open fuse/fusible resistor in line with its power supply. Bad solder joints will do the same problem, I would advice you to re-solder first on that board and spot some cold solder.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work internal if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

have you ran magicfocus on hd channels and if you have and still have problem
it will most likely have to have adjsutments done in the service menu when running on a hd signal

This might be a convergence amplifier problem or a problem in the convergence coils. I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician check this TV out. This problem is usually due to the convergence amplifiers malfunctioning, to replace then the two modules and their biasing resistors must be replaced.

Try looking at the main board very near the flyback and you should see 3 fuse links (they look like hard capacitors) one of them is probably open causing lack or power to the convergence board by way of the ribbon seated close to the vertical output IC
