That depends on the type of dvd you want to make. I'd suggest downloading a free burning software, as the built in XP one isn't all that user friendly in terms of telling you what it's doing.
Try googling InfraRecorder or CDBurnerXP. Or just 'free cd burning software' and take your pick.
