Question about Frigidaire Dryers
Try this, you will need someone to help you. Open the door, have someone push the start button at the same time as they push the door switch, while you reach in and turn the drum one way or the other. The dryer will only start in one direction, so if it doesn't start in one direction, try the other. Be very careful when you do this that you do not get your arm stuck in the dryer. Give it a quick push and get your arm out. If the dryer starts up, you have a bad start winding in the motor, and will have to replace the motor. If it does not start up then you probably have a bad control, but will need to have it tested to make sure. If the drum does start up like this, do not use the dryer until you have the motor replaced. Very dangerous. One more thing, if your hum is coming from the motor, and it continues for many minutes, without shutting down, you may just have a broken belt, or one that came off. You have a square access panel in the back lower corner, remove this and see if your belt is off. Make sure the power is disconnected first. If none of this works, then let me know whether the hum is coming from the timer/control area or lower, from the motor. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Thanks for using FixYa. A common problem with noises from dryers has been the under wire that may come out of a bra. In dryers, they can get caught in one of the drum seals and make a scrapping noise, (remove power, grab a flash light and have a peek inside through the door opening) or the wire can actually pass through one of the heating duct holes at the back of the drum and touch something electrical like the heating element, thermostats. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
