It sounds like one of the blades is damaged causing them to lock up. Take each of the heads out andturn the blade insice the comb with your fingers on each one. They should turn freely. I speculate that one of them is damaged and the blade is embeded into the comb not allowing it to turn. If this is the case, you will need to replace the heads. You did not mention your specific model number so I cant direct you to the correct blades that you require. You should be able to find blades for your model at

2320 wont maintain rpm when mower deck is engaged drops to 1500 or less and stalls out motor. everything seems to be turning properly.nothing obstructing blades

Would check blade spindle bearings, loosen belt to deck and try to spin blades they should turn freely if not probably bad bearing in spindle.

Kawasaki 430V engine stops under engaging cutter blade but runs smoothly on idling

Could be a couple things, try turning the blade by hand to see if it will turn fairly easy. If it doesn't check around the blade base to see if something is wedging around the shaft like weeds or a piece of wire or rope or something. If there's nothing there check the belt maybe the idler has a frozen bearing [if it's got one] or maybe the belt jumped off and is wedged in there around the shaft. good luck

Why isn't the center blade on a john deere LX178

Of course with everything off, reach under the deck and turn the center blade by hand. If:
1. the blade turns by itself and nothing else moves, you need to tighten the retaining bolt more.
2. the blade, retaining bolt and drive shaft turn, check to see if the pulley above it is turning.
a. If the pulley turns freely check that the drive belt is going around it to power the blade.
b. If the blade turns with the drive shaft and the pulley doesn't, check that the pulley is still properly connected to the blade shaft. Some have a key in them that can split, others just have a bolt on top holding them tightly on the shaft.

My blades wont engage and just hear click sound?

No permanent solution, but you probably can get by once by "riding" the clutch engagement lever - pushing it only part way forward and holding onto it.
