What Mac, make model and serial number is it?

Hi,
I'm assuming that you have the correct cables etc.
So, once connected, you need to set the tv to be looking at the correct input (component, RGB, s-video depending on your cables).
Next, open system preferences on the mac, and then displays, and you can configure the position of the TV, the resolution, and whether it's mirrored or not.
Then look on your keyboard for an button that has 2 squares on it. On my macbook pro it's the F7 key, and on my Air it's F3. Press that firmly and slowly. It may take a few seconds for the TV to wake up, so press the button and wait, then press it again and wait etc... it may take a few presses.

What type of input are you using? Your macbook should auto detect it. If you go into system preferences, displays, you may just have it at the wrong resolution.

Can connect iPad and Mac Powerbook laptop to my Sony 36

Hi Jim
It's not on a channel, it's the RGB or VGA inputs. (check your "Source" menu on the TV). Works fine here. When the units are talking to the TV the screen on the unit will go blank. One thing. When using your iPad, tghe battery will go down faster than normal.

When I connect my unibody macbook pro to my old tv using a vga to tv converter, my computer doesn't even recognize the disyplay.

When you connect your tv to your mac, make sure the cables are plugged into the TV first, and then plug your mac into the computer.
But a vga to tv converted doesn't make much sense. Your connection should be mini-display from your mac, to an adapter to either VGA, DVI, or HDMI depending on your TV connection type.

I have a macbook and want to hook up to my dynex 24 inch tv. I am successful using (mini dvi to dvi to hdmi) connection to the tv receiving great video. My problem is that I have no been able to get audio...

Your mac would have to have a fully hd compliant mini port. To be honest I havent even checked to see if any do. Then you would want to get a mini video port to HDMI adapter. If you don't have one of the newer Intel mac then chances are you cant do sound through that port, which is what your tv is looking for on the hdmi port.

Easiest solution is to hook your headphone port on your laptop to a stereo or some decent computer speakers, which usually sound better than tv speakers anyway.

Connecting laptop to lcd

You may need to use the S-video cable for video. Make sure video mirroring is disabled on the powerbook. Also, make the external monitor the primary display by dragging the menu bar to it in Displays preferences (Mac OS X) or the Monitors control panel (Mac OS 8 and 9).
