Local police, sheriff and fire are not received anymore, but can pick up distant city police, airports and hwy patrol. Have Pro 2096 model and have not tried any fixes.

With the distant services still coming in, it's probable that your local agencies have changed from single-frequency operations to a trunked system or, if already trunked, that frequency/user assignments have been updated within the system. Scanner not picking up local police-Fire freq

Do you still receive NOAA weather frequencies? Sounds like your local agencies have switched from simplex/standard frequency operation to trunking. I suggest you visit www.RadioReference.com to view the latest on active frequencies and systems in your area.

I have a scanner but how do i find frequency

I am going to make an assumption that you need frequencies for your local area. Go tho the radio reference site and choose your local county from the map. It will list all police and fire frequencies for your area. Below is their address.

I need to program my realistic police scanner.

for your frequency, go to the local radio shack and ask them to look up the frequency. If you have nothing to fear from your local jurisdiction, go directly to them and ask for the frequency. Programming is the easy part and obtaining the frequency not difficult.
