Yes, the NIC, or Ethernet Adapter Card is no good. Suggest you replace it.
This is an example,

Wanted to also add the Sony Vaio PCV-RS 530G User Guide, in case you do not have it, and need information therein,

    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-d...

This is in reference, in that you may not be aware of how to open your computer case, and change out that Ethernet adapter card.

On this Sony Support page, look under the heading - Manuals - in the left column.

Left-click on the file name under the Manuals heading - VAIO User Guide (primary manual)

This is a PDF file download, and you will see it come up in a smaller window. (Left of your screen)

It takes approximately 24 seconds to download. In the meantime the small window is blank.
The User Guide is downloading in the background.

After the file has downloaded all the way, you can left-click on Maximize to make this User Guide go full screen. (The empty square in-between the - sign, and the red X, at the top right corner)

In the Bookmarks on the left side of the PDF file, click on - Upgrading and Maintaining your VAIO Computer.

Scroll down two pages until you are on Page 80. (Page number is at the top of the PDF file, to the right of the blue down arrow)

Shows you that on the backside of your computer, you remove three screws from the outside edge of the computer cover.
One on each side midway up, and one at the top/middle.

The computer cover is like a U shaped hood, and slides forward.

Page 82 shows you how to install Add On cards, such as that Ethernet adapter card.
(You can click on the + sign at the top of the PDF file, to enlarge the view. (Zoom In)

    IMPERATIVE!

The computer Must be unplugged from power before removing, or installing a hardware component, not only for your safety but the safety of the hardware component, and the rest of the computer.

(Always unplug a computer power cord from the surge protector, and not out of the back of the Power Supply.

Unplugging from the back of a Power Supply with the power cord still plugged into the surge protector, can cause a voltage spike, and not only fry out the power supply, but may fry out the rest of the computer's hardware components.

Many use the wrong method, and have been lucky. One day they won't be.
Thought I would give you a heads up)

Computer unplugged from power, computer case open, TOUCH the metal frame of the computer case, to relieve your body of Static electricity. (Not shouting)
Static will fry out computer hardware components.

Computer unplugged from power, you are safe.
TOUCH the metal frame, your computer is safe.

Should you have any additional questions please post them in a comment.

If it is seven years old it has most likely lost interest. Get a newer one.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)

Running your install disk will place a new OS on the drive and if what you want is on the disk, that as well. Make a backup of your data first then restore it all.

Have a Vaio PCV-RS 530G, everything lights up on front of computer but nothing shows up on monitor and a beeping noise sounds from the computer.

Those beeping sounds are the computer post codes. They point you in the direction of any hardware problem its encountered while trying to boot up.

Here's a url which should help you with a bit more info:-

http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

That beep code should point you in the right direction of any component failure you may have.

Just want to know what year my sony 530g came out i like xp for pro tools how long will the main bord last help i like this 530g

This computer was released for sale on January 18th, 2004. Exactly how old the one you have is hard to tell. I would suspect it was sold sometime in 2004. How long the motherboard last is hard to tell. Keep the inside to the computer clean of dust and you will extend the life of the components. Neglect this and it will fail prematurely. Heat is the enemy of electronics and dusty components creates more heat.

Need help clearing the garbage slowing my CPU w/o losing my files

Just copy any wanted documents (pictures, music, videos, etc.) onto your external hdd. As far as Norton or any other programs, you will need to reinstall these after the restore.
After you reinstall the os just copy your things from the external hdd to the appropriate folders.

Sony VAIO PCV-RS720G drivers

I think if you download the motherboard chipset driver utility from the VAIO download page for this model:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCVRS720G&UpdateType=Everything
It will include the NIC 1394 and video controller driver.
