Issue The automatic document feeder (ADF) does not pick up any sheets of paper. Solution Follow these steps to resolve the issue. It might not be necessary to complete all steps to resolve the issue. Step one: Check the paper in the ADF The condition or amount of loaded paper might prevent the ADF from picking up and feeding sheets through the product.

  1. Make sure that no more than 50 sheets of paper are in the ADF input tray.
  2. Make sure the original is not photo paper or carbon paper. Load these special media types on the scanner glass.
  3. Make sure the loaded paper in the ADF meets the following criteria:
    • Free from curls, folds, creases, and tears
    • No staples or clips attached
  4. Try the copy or fax job again.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

    • Make sure the bottom roller is held firmly in place by the 2 catch hooks located to the left and the right of the roller.
    • Make sure the stack stopper, located between the top and bottom rollers, fits within the double slots above the bottom roller. The stack stopper should move freely within the double slots when you lift and lower the assembly. Figure after a jammed document, our copier will only - c01441055.gifper and 2 catchc01441055.gif
  4. Return the pick assembly to its original position.

  5. After removing the jammed document or if a document is not jammed, check the document feed area to make sure there is no foreign material. If you find foreign material, carefully remove it.
  6. Close the Feeder Cover.

Note : If documents remain in the ADF after pressing the Stop/Reset button during scanning, "DOCUMENT IN ADF" appears on the LCD. Press the OK button so that the remaining document is automatically fed out.

When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescan it from the first page.

Note: The document may not feed properly depending on the media type, or your environment, such as when the temperature and humidity are either too high or too low.
In this case, reduce the number of document pages to approximately half of the loading capacity. Another alternative is to scan from the platen glass

Document feeder works for printing but not for scanning

Hi, When you had the doucment feed jam were you able to clean or remove any paper that might be blocking the paper to be scanned? It sounds like there is paper still in the document feeder , I would open the DF and check very closely to make sure no paper is in the way!Good Luck!
