Some cracking and pinging is normal due to the thermal expansion of the metal. If some make more noise than others, it could be an indication of a plugged or restricted steam vent (the chrome gadget on the side of the radiator) or that the return line at the boiler needs draining or that there is too much water in the supply lines. A good flushing of the supply and return lines will help. Check your water level after flushing. I would replace the original steam vent on the suspect radiator and see if that helps, it could be over heating.

My Bar B Chef grill grates are totally rusted. Are stainless steel grates better or should I stick with cast iron?

I prefer cast iron. Cast iron heats more evenly and retains temperature better. If they are falling apart from rust, junk them. If they just have surface rust and no holes, all you have to do is brush them with a steel brush at high heat. Wipe them off with a wet rag and then rub it with an onion to provide a teflon layer. if it is really heavy rust, spray oven cleaner on them and hose off. After use or for storage, clean them and then wipe them down with a cooking oil soaked rag. The oil will reduce rust build up.

Can I use Cast Iron Pots and Skillets on my new Frigidaire Gallery Stove Top?

Hello friend, thanks for your post!
It is not recommended to use any cast iron pots or skillets on a Frigidaire smooth top. In your manual it provides the best type of cookware material and cast iron is a poor heat conductor. Due to the weight of the cast iron it can cause scratches or damage the cooktop. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt

I have steam heat when i turn my heat on i get black dust all over my homeon child toys

Steam heat-- I can appreciate that-- I have done Maintenance work on Steam systems for years-
Most of my systems have big cast iron radiators, and a valve on one end, and a steam trap on the other end of the radiator.
The radiator has to be painted with a silver paint-- or it will rust easily--

Tell me about your radiator, and is there rust?
Is there any leakage at the radiator valve-- like at the stem packing?
Sometimes the water that leaks out of the packing can be black-- (It is iron oxide, too..)

Do any of these comments help your trouble shooting?

Tell me more, so I might be able to help you further.

Radiators only working on the top third? please can anyone help! it is a central heating system

If old cast iron units, they are probably filling with rust and debris not allowing the water or steam to get to the lower sections. You will need to have them cleaned. Not an easy fix. They will need to be removed and either power washed or acid dipped. Make sure the valves are open fully to allow as much flow through them as possible.

We had a powerflush yesterday, today we have no hot water when we put water on its making alot of noise banging etc? sounds like air in the tank or pipes?

Sounds like you have a boiler type heating system and when it was flushed air got in the system. If you don't have automatic air bleeders in the system then you will have to bleed the air out manually. On the radiators depending on the style there should be a nut with a screw in the middle(on most cast iron radiators) or a elbow with a bleeder (on most radiant baseboard slant fin style)

Wd10 indesit washer banging

It could be the drum bearings. If you can move the drum up and down, the bearings is worn. It could also be the balanceweight that sits on the top of the outer tub that have gone loose. It's usually made of cement, or cast iron.
