Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer
I have a F2 error code on my front load Kenmore washer, what should I do
If the heading above is correct, and this is a Kenmore Elite front loader, "F02" is a "Long Drain" error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and "F02" will be displayed. Here's what you need to do to determine if you have a definite problem:
1. Press "PAUSE/CANCEL" twice to clear the display.
2. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
3. Check the electrical connection at the pump and make sure the drain pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for obstructions.
Here's how to access the pump:
NOTE: It is normal to have residual water left inside the wash tub under the wash basket. This is why it is important to leave the door ajar when not in use so this water does not become sour.

Normal 0 Sears said 2 weeks for a repairman to come out so I followed the instructions. Apparently these things like to ingest small baby towels. I took out the filter and there it was. Using the wet vac is pure genius. It took a few minutes but I got about 1 gallon out then removed the filter and there was only a few dribbles. If you don’t have a wet vac here’s your excuse to go get one.

Please click on the following link for an explanation of the "F02" error.
Generally this problem is attributed to either a clogged, or failed drain pump. If you have questions, or require assistance locating any failed parts, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: F2 error code
Chia, this is not a good one, F2 is a keypad failure or interface mismatch. You can try a couple of things. 1. unplug the washer for a minute and see if the code returns. 2. Remove the consol to access the control board, three screws on the backside and the consol lifts up. On the right side you will see the main board. On the right side of the board, center harness will be the interface ribbon cable. Reseat it a couple of times. If this doesn't work, I believe you will have to replace the touchpad. Catriver.

Sounds like your pump is clogged. Take off the lower front panel via 3 ws on the bottom. Get a buch of towels, thiers gonna be water. Right in center front thier will be a white twist knob, about 3 inche in diamter. Unscrew it, this is when the water is gonna come out. If there is a secondary wall, pull it straight out with a pair of pliers. Clean out the pump, also check the little hole to the right leading into the impeller, make sure its clean. Finally put it back togther and try it out, thanks Dave www.washermd.com

SOURCE: f2 error
"F02" is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a "SUDS" error may also be generated as a secondary error. This is an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:
1. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
2. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
3. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.
To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.
If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump

F2 on this unit is long drain. Take the front lower cover off (3 screws on the bottom) and you will see a round white cover about 4 inches round. That is the pump clean out. Before you twist that cap off be aware the water will come out have some towels ready. Take the cap off and you will see all the junk in there remove it and replace the cap. Thats it good luck..
